PIPER FLOWN TWICE AFTER ANNUAL INSPECTION WAS DUE.
Narrative
ON SEP/XA/99; I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY COMPANY'S CHIEF OF MAINT INFORMING ME THAT A FLT ON AUG/XA/99 MADE BY ME IN THE ABOVE ACFT WAS AFTER THE ANNUAL INSPECTION DATE OF JUL/XA/99. THIS ACFT IS USED BY THE PLTS OF OUR CPR FLT DEPT FOR PLEASURE AND PVT BUSINESS FLYING. IT IS NOT USED FOR CPR TRANSPORT AND WAS NOT INCLUDED ON A STATUS BOARD OR IN A COMPUTER SYS AS THE CPR JETS ARE. I REALIZE THAT IT IS THE PLT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THE AIRWORTHINESS OF THE ACFT. I HAVE BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO THE MAINT DEPT TRACKING INSPECTION DUE DATES AND ENSURING COMPLIANCE. IT NEVER OCCURRED TO ME TO CHK THE LOGBOOKS OF THIS ACFT. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE MAINT CHIEF AND THE FOLLOWING CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE. 1) A STATUS SHEET WITH THE NECESSARY INSPECTION INFO FROM THE LOGBOOKS WILL BE CARRIED IN THE ACFT. 2) A STATUS BOARD WILL BE INSTALLED IN THE MAINT AREA TO MONITOR THIS ACFT. 3) A NEW SOFTWARE PROGRAM HAS BEEN PURCHASED THAT WILL ALLOW THE STATUS OF ALL COMPANY ACFT TO BE MONITORED; INCLUDING THIS ONE USED FOR PERSONAL FLYING. 4) THE CHIEF OF MAINT WILL CONDUCT A TRAINING SESSION WITH ALL CPR PLTS TO ENSURE EVERYONE IS AWARE OF THE CHANGES BEING IMPLEMENTED AND THE IMPORTANCE OF ENSURING AIRWORTHINESS PRIOR TO FLT.
