Narrative
DEPARTED TAHITI 1 HR LATE (XA00 LCL) FOR A SCHEDULED 8 HR 'ALL NIGHTER' TO LAX. ON ARR; WE WERE CLRED FROM SXC TO SLI AND GIVEN VECTORS FOR THE VISUAL APCH; RWY 25L LAX. OUR ASSIGNED HDG/ALT WERE 320 DEGS; 3000 FT. AFTER SLI; SIGHTED ARPT AT APPROX 10 O'CLOCK POS AND 15 MI. AFTER RPTING ARPT IN SIGHT; WE WERE 'CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH;' AND ADVISED THERE WAS TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK FOR THE N COMPLEX (RWY 24L&R). WE ARMED THE ILS AND ADVISED WE WERE LOOKING FOR TFC; WHICH WE NEVER DID SIGHT. WHILE LOOKING WE OVERSHOT THE LOC FOR RWY 25L. WHEN WE NOTICED THIS; WE IMMEDIATELY TURNED BACK TO THE L TO INTERCEPT. APCH ASKED IF WE HAD THE RWY IN SIGHT BECAUSE WE WERE N OF THE LOC. WE SAID WE DID AND WERE CORRECTING BACK. IT WAS A LITTLE HAZY (SOME MIST OVER THE ARPT) AND WE WERE TIRED. ALSO; THE INTERCEPT HDG WAS TOO BIG (APPROX 70 DEGS TO THE FINAL) AND WE WERE DISTR WHILE LOOKING FOR TFC. TOO MANY LITTLE THINGS ALL AT ONCE. NEXT TIME; WE WILL BE MORE AWARE OF THE BUILDING SCENARIO; AND BE BETTER PREPARED FOR THE LITTLE THINGS. NOTE: THIS WAS ALSO THE FIRST TIME WE HAD APCHED LAX FROM THE S. NO VISUAL CLUES TO HELP US OUT LIKE WE ARE USED TO ON THE N COMPLEX.
