A B737-300 AT DEP TIME WAS PUSHED BACK FROM THE GATE WITH A LAVATORY SVC TRUCK STILL ATTACHED INCURRING DAMAGE TO THE AFT LOWER FUSELAGE.

Narrative

SEP/XA/99; ACR FLT ABC AT GATE XY IN ZZZ; ACFT XYZ AT APPROX XA12. ACFT CAME IN CONTACT WITH A LAVATORY SVC TRUCK. AT APPROX XA06 I PROCEEDED TO PULL THE ACFT CHOCKS AND START THE DOOR AND PANEL CHK BY WALKING AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE ACFT. AT AP-PROX XA07 I WAS STANDING BY THE PUSH TRACTOR WAITING FOR CUSTOMER SVC TO PULL JETWAY AWAY FROM THE ACFT. APPROX XA08; CUSTOMER SVC PULLED THE JETWAY. AT THIS POINT I AGAIN CHKED TO SEE IF ANYTHING WAS BEHIND THE ACFT. THEN I ENTERED THE PUSH TRACTOR AND CONTACTED THE CREW AND STATED 'WE ARE LOCKED UP; STAND BY FOR PUSHBACK CLRNC.' AT APPROX XA09; CREW RPTED 'CLR TO PUSH; BRAKES ARE SET.' AT APPROX XA10; I REQUESTED 'BRAKE OFF' AND RECEIVED 'BRAKES ARE OFF' MESSAGE FROM CREW. AT APPROX XA11; RPTED TO CREW 'PUSHING BACK; CLR TO START BOTH ENGS.' AT THIS POINT I CHKED FOR TFC BY STOOPING DOWN IN TUG AND PROCEEDED TO PUSH ACFT BACK. AT APPROX XA12; AFTER PUSHING BACK ACFT ABOUT 10 FT; I SAW A LAVATORY SVC MAN RUNNING FROM BEHIND ACFT; OUTBOARD OF #2 ENG. I STOPPED THE ACFT AND STATED TO FLC THAT 'WE HAVE A PROB AND TO SET BRAKES.' ALSO THAT 'I WILL BE OFF THE HEAD SET TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED.' AT APPROX XA13; I WENT BACK TO THE AFT OF THE ACFT AND LOOKED TO SEE WHAT THE PROB WAS. I SAW THAT THE ACFT HAD CONTACTED THE LAVATORY TRUCK AND THAT THE LAVATORY SVC PANEL WAS OPEN.
