A RESERVE FO ACCEPTS AN ILLEGAL RESERVE ASSIGNMENT THAT EXCEEDS HER 16 HR DUTY DAY AT SFO; CA.
Narrative
I WAS CALLED DURING A RESERVE PERIOD TO COVER A FLT ASSIGNMENT FOR THAT DAY. I HAD BEGUN THE RESERVE PERIOD AT AB00 THAT MORNING AND WAS CALLED ON A 1 HR CALLOUT AT AG30. WHEN THE SCHEDULER DESCRIBED THE TRIP; I ASSUMED THAT IT WOULD FINISH AND I WOULD BE RELEASED PRIOR TO XX00; WHICH WOULD MAKE FOR A 16 HR DUTY DAY. SO I ACCEPTED THE ASSIGNMENT. WHEN I REACHED THE ARPT AND GOT YOUR TRIP PRINTOUT; I REALIZED THAT I WOULD NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL XZ00. HAVING ALREADY ACCEPTED THE TRIP; I WOULD BE DISCIPLINED IF I TOLD THEM AT THAT LATE TIME THAT I WAS UNABLE TO FLY THE TRIP BECAUSE IT EXCEEDED MY DUTY LIMITATIONS. IN ADDITION; THE COMPANY WAS IN A TRANSITION TO COME FULLY INTO COMPLIANCE WITH THE FARS REGARDING RESERVE/REST. TO ENSURE THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN; I WILL TAKE THE TIME TO GET MORE INFO FROM THE CREW SCHEDULER REGARDING THE TRIP AND SPECIFICALLY THE RELEASE TIME. WITH THAT INFO; I CAN THEN DECIDE WHETHER IT IS LEGAL OR NOT TO ACCEPT EACH TRIP ASSIGNED DURING A RESERVE PERIOD.
