A BE1900 FLC RETURNS AND LANDS AT COS WHEN THE PIC DISCOVERS THE CREW DOES NOT POSSESS THE APCH PLATES NEEDED FOR AN ILS INTO DEN; CO.

Narrative

AFTER DEPARTING COS IN IMC; WE PICKED UP THE ATIS AT DEN; OUR DEST. THE ATIS RPTED THE WX AT 1 SM; SNOW AND MIST; 700 FT OVCST. CONDITIONS ALONG THE RTE WERE SOLID IMC WITH MODERATE MIXED ICING. THE RWY IN USE WAS RWY 35L/R; ILS APCH. AFTER PICKING UP ATIS; I LOOKED FOR THE APCH PLATES TO RWY 35L/R; WHILE THE FO WAS FLYING. I THEN DISCOVERED BOTH HE AND I DID NOT HAVE THE APPROPRIATE CHARTS TO FLY THE ILS TO RWY 35L/R; OR RWY 34. WE RETURNED TO COS. BOTH OF US WERE 'NEW' TO THE WEST COAST SYS AND WERE RECENTLY ISSUED CHARTS. OUR NAV CHARTS WERE SIGNED OFF AS 'CURRENT' FROM OUR TECHNICAL PUBS DEPT. WE COULD HAVE FLOWN AN ILS TO RWY 9; BUT DECIDED IT WOULD BE SAFER TO RETURN TO COS. WE HAD ALL THE CHARTS AS REQUIRED BY REVISION 42. THE LDEP CONFIRMED THIS. OUR COMPANY ATTEMPTED TO FAX THE REQUIRED CHARTS TO US UPON OUR ARR BACK AT COS. THE FLT TO DEN WAS ULTIMATELY CANCELED. THE COMPANY HAS SINCE RECTIFIED THE PROB. PUBLISHER SENT A DIRECTIVE TO DESTROY CERTAIN PLATES -- PLATES WE NEEDED DAILY. DAYS LATER; AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO STOP PEOPLE FROM COMPLYING WITH THE DIRECTIVE.
