A BRASILIA 120 FLC DEPARTED IPL AFTER THE CLRNC VOID TIME.
Narrative
FLT ACFT X IPL-LAX; ON NOV/XA/99. THE STATION HAD OBTAINED OUR FLOW TIME OF XA45 TO XA50. THIS TIME WAS GOING TO MAKE US HURRY TO DEPART. HOWEVER; SINCE WE HAD BEEN DELAYED ALL DAY DUE TO WX; WE WERE ALL WORKING HARD TO GET OUR SCHEDULE BACK ON TIME. MY FO OBTAINED OUR CLRNC TO LAX FROM SAN DIEGO RADIO; AND WE WERE ISSUED A CLRNC VOID TIME. WHEN WE STARTED OUR TKOF ROLL; MY WATCH SHOWED EXACTLY XA50. I CHKED IN WITH ZLA ON 128.6 MHZ BY RPTING THAT WE WERE CLBING THROUGH 3000 FT (APPROX) FOR 7000 FT. HE STATED THAT OUR CLRNC WAS VOID SINCE WE HAD A VOID TIME OF XA50 AND IT WAS NOW XA57. I STATED THAT WE HAD STARTED OUR TKOF ROLL AT XA50. TO THIS HE STATED THAT OUR FLT PLAN HAD DROPPED OFF THE COMPUTER AND THAT HE WOULD REFILE IT FOR US. HE GAVE US AN INITIAL VECTOR FOR JULIAN VOR. APPROX 2 MINS LATER; HE RECLRED US TO LAX VIA JULIAN AND THE VISTA 1 ARR. BEFORE HE GAVE US A FREQ CHANGE; I ASKED HIM FOR A TIME CHK; MY WATCH WAS ABOUT 3 MINS SHOWER THAN HIS WAS. I APOLOGIZED FOR THIS; AND HE DID NOT SEEM TOO UPSET. SINCE THE WX WAS VFR; THE SAFETY OF THE FLT WAS NEVER IN QUESTION. WE HAD THE SAME SAFETY MARGIN AS A FLT THAT DEPARTS IPL IN VFR CONDITIONS AND OBTAINS THEIR IFR CLRNC WHILE AIRBORNE WITHIN 50 NM OF THE ARPT; WHICH IS AN APPROVED PROC AT MY AIRLINE. A MISTAKE WAS MADE; AND I ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. MY BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS HURRYING TO MAKE A FLOW TIME. MY NEXT BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS THAT I HAD NOT CHKED MY WATCH AGAINST ATC TIME FOR A FEW WKS. IN THIS CASE; MY WATCH ENDED UP BEING ABOUT 3 MINS OFF. I WILL NOT MAKE THESE MISTAKES AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.
