Narrative
I OWN A C150 TIED DOWN AT BOCA RATON ARPT. THIS EVENING AT APPROX XA00 I EXPERIENCED A VERY SERIOUS PROB. MY WIFE AND I WERE RETURNING FROM CLW; FL. I CANCELED VFR FLT FOLLOWING APPROX 9 MI FROM BCT AND TUNED MY XPONDER TO 1200. I CALLED 122.40 AND CLOSED MY FLT PLAN. THEN TUNED TO 122.80; BCT'S U-CTAF; NUMEROUS ACFT WERE IN OR ENTERING THE PATTERN AT BCT. I ANNOUNCED MY POS AND ENTERED THE PATTERN FROM THE NNW. I WAS #3 FOLLOWING A BONANZA AND A TWIN. THE TWIN EXTENDED HIS DOWNWIND TO ENTER A 3 MI FINAL. I LOWERED FLAPS AND SLOWED MY FLT TO SHORTEN MY DOWNWIND TO APPROX 2.5 MI. I TURNED MY BASE WHEN THE TWIN WAS ABEAM ME ON FINAL. I CONTINUALLY ANNOUNCED MY POS. I TURNED FINAL AT 2.5 MI AND ANNOUNCED MY POS. APPROX 1 MI FROM THE FIELD; I HEARD A GULFSTREAM ANNOUNCE A 3 MI FINAL. I IMMEDIATELY ANNOUNCED I WAS ON A 1 MI FINAL AT BOCA AND EXPEDITED MY LNDG. I THROTTLED UP WITH NO FLAPS TO 80 MPH (INDICATED). APPROX 200 FT FROM LNDG; I DROPPED THROTTLE AND LANDED AT 65-70 MPH. MY NORMAL LNDG SPD IS 45 MPH. MY WIFE LOOKED OUT THE BACK WINDOW AND SAW THE GULFSTREAM ONLY A FEW HUNDRED FT FROM LNDG. I MADE AN IMMEDIATE TURN OFF AT THE FIRST TXWY. MY TIRES WERE SQUEALING. THE GULFSTREAM MISSED US BY ONLY FT. HAD I NOT EXPEDITED MY FINAL APCH AND TURNED OFF AS I DID; THE GULFSTREAM WOULD HAVE OVERTAKEN ME AND ??? THE GULFSTREAM WAS ONLY ON THE GND FOR A FEW MINS; THEN ANNOUNCED ON 122.8 HE WAS TAXIING TO RWY 5. I CALLED HIM AND REQUESTED TO TALK ON 123.0. THE PLT AGREED. I TOLD HIM WHO I WAS AND THAT IT WAS A DANGEROUS SIT. HE SAID 'I COULD NOT SEE YOUR BLACK AIRPLANE AGAINST THE BLACK RWY.' I TOLD HIM 'I ANNOUNCED A 1 MI FINAL.' HE SAID 'I HEARD YOU BUT ASSUMED YOU WERE CALLING FROM ANOTHER ARPT.' BOCA LINEMAN MR Z KNOWS THE AIRPLANE. HE SAID IT IS IN BCT OFTEN. HE COULD NOT REMEMBER THE REST OF THE CALL LETTERS EITHER.
