A B767-300 WAS RELEASED FOR SVC IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE DIGITAL ACQUISITION FLT DATA UNIT WIRED INCORRECTLY DUE TO AN INACCURATE WIRE DIAGRAM MANUAL.
Narrative
WHEN PERFORMING FLT DATA RECORDER OPS CHK PER ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER WXXX; FOUND 115 VAC MISSING TO DIGITAL ACQUISITION FLT DATA UNIT. TROUBLESHOT SYS PER WIRE DIAGRAM MANUAL CHAPTER 31 AND ALSO PER WIRE DIAGRAM MANUAL; FOUND WIRE W065-11-22 OF PLUG D493P IN PIN #5 WRONG PER WIRE DIAGRAM MANUAL AND RED BOOK -- THEY BOTH SHOWED/SAID WIRE SHOULD BE IN PIN #8 OF D493P. REPINNED PLUG AND SYS WORKED NORMAL PER CHKOUT. AFTER ACFT XYZ LEFT FOR SVC AND AFTER FURTHER DISCUSSION WITH FELLOW AVIONICS CREW MEMBERS; WE DISCOVERED THAT PLUG D493P WAS INDEED PINNED CORRECT PER ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER WXXX; PER CARD #2 PAGE 3. SO THAT MEANS WIRE DIAGRAM MANUAL AND MANUAL WERE INCORRECT OR NOT UPDATED. ACFT IS CURRENTLY OUT OF CONFIGN PER ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER WXXX. SYS SHOULD HAVE WORKED PER ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER WIRING; BUT DID NOT. SUSPECT FLT DATA RECORDER PANEL IS BAD AND WIRE #W065-11-22 OF D493P SHOULD BE REPINNED BACK TO PIN #5 PER ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER. AFTER REPINNED AND PANEL REPLACED TO RECERTIFY PRESENCE OF 115 VAC TO DIGITAL ACQUISITION FLT DATA UNIT.
