CABIN ATTENDANT RPT; DC10; DFW-HNL. CABIN ATTENDANT INJURED IN BAD TURB AND SOUGHT NO MEDICAL HELP.

Narrative

AS #2 FLT ATTENDANT; I WAS COUNTING BONDED LIQUOR. ACFT BEGAN TO SWAY; SO I LOOKED OUT THE GALLEY AND NOTICED 2 PAX STANDING AND ASKED THEM TO BE SEATED. THE SWAYING AND BUMPS INTENSIFIED; SO I POSITIONED LIQUOR CART DIAGONALLY UNDER DROP-DOWN TABLE IN AFT PORTION OF GALLEY. THE TURB WAS CHOPPY AND ACFT WAS SWAYING. I STARTED FOR MY JUMP SEAT. AS I EXITED THE GALLEY; I WAS LIFTED OFF MY FEET. I GRABBED THE GALLEY CURTAIN AND IT WHIPPED ME TOWARD THE L-HAND SIDE OF ACFT; BROKE OFF CURTAIN ROD; AND THEN I SLAMMED BACK AND NECK FIRST INTO AFT GALLEY DIVIDER PARTITION. BEFORE I HIT THE GND; THE ACFT DROPPED AGAIN AND I WAS THROWN ONTO MY L SIDE. I LAID THERE FOR 15-20 SECONDS. I THEN CRAWLED TO MY JUMP SEAT; BUT COULD NOT STAND UP. I REACHED FOR THE PHONE; UNABLE TO REACH CALL BUTTON AND REMAINED ON THE PHONE UNTIL I HEARD CONVERSATION. I INTERRUPTED AND TOLD THEM I HAD BEEN INJURED AND NEEDED HELP. A PAX SAW ME LYING ON THE FLOOR AND OFFERED TO HELP; BUT I TOLD HIM HELP WAS ON THE WAY. FLT ATTENDANT #8 WAS FIRST TO REACH ME. SHE IMMEDIATELY COVERED INJURED AREAS WITH ICE. I REMAINED ON THE FLOOR FOR 30 MINS. THE FE CAME BACK TO CHK ON ME. AT THAT TIME I WAS ABLE TO STAND. I RESTED FOR ANOTHER 30 MINS AND CONTINUED TO DO THE SVC. I DECLINED THE CAPT'S OFFER TO LAND AND SEEK MEDICAL ATTN; AS I FELT NOTHING WAS BROKEN; I WAS NOT BLEEDING AND I WAS ABLE TO WORK. THE FOLLOWING MORNING MY NECK AND UPPER SHOULDERS; WRISTS AND KNEES WERE BRUISED AND SORE; BUT I CONTINUED ICE AND IBUPROFEN AND CHOSE TO WORK OUR TRIP HOME. I WILL SEEK MEDICAL ATTN IF SORENESS IN NECK AND SHOULDERS DOES NOT IMPROVE.
