MD80 CREW HAD HIGH PWR COMPRESSOR STALLS JUST AFTER TKOF.

Narrative

COMPRESSOR STALL AFTER TKOF FROM CHICAGO. MAX PWR TKOF FROM RWY 9R WAS INTERRUPTED WITH 2 SUBTLE JOLTS AT 800 FT AGL. MASTER CAUTION AND WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED BRIEFLY; BUT WERE UNREADABLE. I DISCONNECTED THE AUTOTHROTTLES AND REDUCED PWR TO 1.7 EPR. THE ACFT CLBED NICELY AT 1500 FPM. CONTINUED CLBING R TURN TO THE W AND CLRED CLOUDS AT 10500 FT. WITH THE ANTI-ICE EQUIP TURNED OFF THE AFT FLT ATTENDANTS AND A PAX RIDING CAPT AGREED THAT THERE WERE DIFFERENT NOISES AND A DISTINCT VIBRATION COMING FROM THE L ENG. CALLED FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FROM ACR MAINT WHO REFERRED US TO LCL MAINT AND ESTABLISHED A RADIO RELAY. LCL MAINT RECOMMENDED ENG MONITORING WHILE CONTINUING ONWARD TO RENO. REMAINDER OF FLT AND LNDG WERE UNREMARKABLE. MAINT INSPECTION REVEALED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO C-1 DISK. 6 BLADES WERE BENT FORWARD AT THE TIPS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 460535: ON TKOF AT 800 FT HAD 2 MINOR COMPRESSOR STALLS ALL ENG READINGS WERE NORMAL. CABIN CREW AND PAX RIDER ACR CAPT SAID FELT VIBRATION FROM ENGS AT HIGH PWR SETTINGS; BUT REDUCED WITH LOWER PWR SETTINGS. TALKED WITH MAINT. THEY RECOMMENDED CONTINUING TO RNO WHICH WE DID TO AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG. INSPECTION OF ENGS SHOWED 7 OR 8 BENT BLADES ON #1 ENG.
