PVT PLT OF A C150 DIVERTED TO LAND AFTER THE ENG STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND LOSING PWR WHEN PWR WAS APPLIED.

Narrative

WE WERE ON A VFR FLT FROM 3B3 TO SFM. WE WERE IN CONTACT WITH MHT APCH FOR FLT FOLLOWING. AT ABOUT 10 NM W OF PEASE; WE STARTED EXPERIENCING ENG TROUBLE. THE ENG WOULD CUT OUT WHEN PWR WAS APPLIED. MHT APCH WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED OF THE PROB ALONG WITH A REQUEST TO LAND AT PEASE. MHT VECTORED US TO PEASE AND SAID TO LAND STRAIGHT IN ON RWY 16. THEY SAID CONTACT PEASE TWR AND GAVE THE FREQ. I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT PEASE TWR BUT FOR SOME REASON I DID NOT GET THROUGH. THINKING THAT MHT HAD ADVISED PEASE OF THE SIT; I CONTINUED TO FLY TO THE RWY. PEASE SAW OR HEARD US JUST IN TIME TO HAVE A SMALL PLANE THAT WAS ON ITS TKOF ROLL ABORT THE TKOF. MY CONCERN WAS TO GET THE PLANE DOWN. I TRIED TO CONTACT THE TWR BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON DID NOT GET THROUGH. MHT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SURE THAT PEASE KNEW WE WERE COMING IN AND WHAT OUR SIT WAS BEFORE HANDING US OFF -- KNOWING WE HAD OUR HANDS FULL TRYING TO GET THE PLANE DOWN SAFELY. THE RWY AT PEASE IS VERY LONG AND THE OTHER PLANE THAT WAS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 34 WAS NOT THREATENED IN ANY WAY.
