Narrative
I WAS INFORMED THAT APPARENTLY I BLEW OVER A BAGGAGE CONTAINER WHEN I TAXIED AWAY FROM THE GATE. THE CONTAINER HIT A FOOD TRUCK. WHEN IT HIT THE FOOD TRUCK; IT ALSO HIT THE MECHANISM TO RAISE THE RAMP USED FOR LOADING THE GALLEY SUPPLIES; WHICH IN TURN HIT DOOR 1R OF THE ACFT PARKED AT THE GATE NEXT TO WHERE WE TAXIED AWAY FROM. WE PUSHED BACK FROM OUR GATE AT ABOUT A 45 DEG ANGLE; BUT NOT AS FAR AS I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE BEEN PUSHED BACK. AFTER ENG START; I TAXIED TOWARD THE TERMINAL TO GET SOME SPD; THEN STARTED A TURN TO JOIN THE TXWY. AS WE TAXIED AWAY FROM THE TERMINAL; I TOLD MY FO THAT I WAS GOING TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO BLOW ANYTHING AWAY BEHIND US. THERE WAS A B747 TAXIING QUITE FAST ON THE PARALLEL TXWY TOWARD US. INSTEAD OF ADDING PWR TO GO IN FRONT OF HIM; I TOOK MY TIME TO JOIN THE TXWY. WHEN I SAID I WAS GOING TO BE CAREFUL; MY FO LOOKED AT OUR FUEL FLOW. IT WAS AT OUR BREAK-AWAY THRUST LIMIT. BECAUSE THE B747 WAS COMING AT US; I USED A DIFFERENT INTXN TO JOIN THE TXWY ASSIGNED. WE USED CARE DURING THE TAXI OUT; AND WAS AWARE OF WHAT WE WERE DOING. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE CONTAINER WAS SECURE; OR EVEN IF IT WAS LEFT SOMEPLACE IT DIDN'T BELONG. WE HAVE AN UPHILL TAXI FROM OUR GATE TO THE TXWY AT ORD. IF MAINT COULD PUSH US BACK FARTHER; THIS MIGHT NOT HAVE HAPPENED. WE WERE HVY THAT NIGHT. NEXT TIME I KNOW; IF WE ARE HAVING ANY TROUBLE DURING THE TAXI OUT; I'LL CALL RAMP CTL AND CLR THE AREA BEHIND ME IF ANY PWR MORE THAN BREAK-AWAY IS NEEDED; OR EVEN IF BREAK-AWAY IS SLOWLY WORKING. A CLEAN RAMP IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT.
