2 GA ACFT EXPERIENCE A CONFLICT AT AN UNCTLED ARPT.
Narrative
WE WERE RETURNING TO FTG FROM GXY IN UNLIMITED VFR. MY COPLT WAS FLYING. WE LISTENED TO AWOS FOR CURRENT WX AND WIND. THE WIND WAS ABOUT 170 DEGS AT 7 KTS. WE THEN TUNED UNICOM FOR LCL TFC AND ADVISORIES. AT THIS TIME WE WERE ABOUT 12 NM NE OF FTG. WE HEARD A CESSNA 172 MAKING TOUCH AND GOES ON RWY 17; ALSO A CESSNA 206 MAKING TOUCH AND GOES ON RWY 8. RWYS 26 AND 8 ARE THE RWYS MOST USED IN LIGHT WIND CONDITIONS. WE PLANNED ON USING RWY 8 TO AVOID CONFLICT WITH THE LCL TFC USING RWYS 17 AND 8. THESE AIRPLANES WERE MAKING ALL NORMAL POS RPTS IN THEIR TFC PATTERN. WE FLEW A NORMAL 45 DEG ENTRY TO A R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 8. WHILE ENTERING THE PATTERN FOR RWY 8 WE HAD VISUAL CONTACT WITH BOTH AIRPLANES USING RWYS 17 AND 8; AND HEARD ALL OF THEIR POS RPTS. WE WERE ALSO MAKING ALL NORMAL POS RPTS ON OUR WAY TO RWY 8. AT NO TIME DID WE SEE OR HEAR ANY OTHER ACFT IN THE AREA. MY COPLT WAS THE PF AND MAKING THE LNDG. WE WERE JUST ABOUT TO START OUR FLARE TO LAND; AT THIS TIME I SAW A CESSNA 210 (Y) ROLLING OUT HEAD ON; ON RWY 26. MY COPLT DID NOT SEE THE ACFT AT ALL. I TOOK CTL OF THE AIRPLANE; MADE A PULL-UP AND GAR. WE THEN MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG. THE CESSNA 210 THEN CONTINUED TAXIING OUT AND DEPARTED ON RWY 8. AT NO TIME ANY RADIO XMISSION FROM HIM. THIS INCIDENT PROVES TO ME AND MY COPLT YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO CAREFUL OR ALERT DURING ANY PHASE OF FLT.
