AFTER PUSHBACK FROM THE GATE; GND WAS CALLED AND CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 7R WAS RECEIVED. I TAXIED VIA TXWYS K; E; A TO RWY 7R. HALFWAY TO THE RWY I WAS SWITCHED TO ANOTHER FREQ WHICH WAS THE TWR SUPVR WHO GAVE US A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL. AFTER ARR IN CVG I CALLED. SUPVR WAS CONCERNED ABOUT MY CHOICE OF TAXI RTE TO RWY 7R. SINCE HE THOUGHT I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TXWYS B; A TO RWY 7R. I EXPLAINED HOW I WANTED TO AVOID RAMP CONGESTION SO I TOOK TXWYS K; E; A AND NEITHER THE FO OR I HEARD THE CTLR SAY TXWY B TO RWY 7R. FURTHER DISCUSSION OF DILIGENCE IN LISTENING TO RADIO CALLS AND FOLLOWING TAXI INSTRUCTIONS OCCURRED WITH THE CONVERSATION ENDING ON A POSITIVE NOTE BY BOTH PARTIES. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 467369: GIVEN CLRNC TO TAXI. 'TAXI TO RWY 7R' I REPEATED THE CLRNC. CAPT TAXIED TO 'TXWY B' THEN I ASKED WHY HE WAS GOING TO TXWYS K; E; A' TO GO TO RWY 7R. HE WANTED TO AVOID THE ACFT ON THE RAMP NEAR TXWY B AND HAD BEEN GIVEN THAT SPECIFIC ROUTING ALL OTHER TIMES IN MKE. 'TXWYS; K; E; A' PARALLELS TXWY B AND AT SOME POINT YOU NEED TO LEAVE TXWY B TO GET TO TXWY A ANYWAY. GND CTLR POINTED OUT TFC ON TXWY T EXITING THE RWY AND ASKED THEM TO WAIT FOR US TO CLR. CAPT RELAYED THAT THE GND CTLR SPECIFICALLY TOLD US TO USE TXWY B. WE DISAGREED. CTLR WAS ASKED ABOUT A REVIEW OF THE TAPE BUT DID NOT RESPOND TO THE CAPT'S QUESTION. CTLR STATED OTHER THINGS TO THE CAPT AND THEN SAID IT WAS ONLY FACT FINDING DUE TO NUMEROUS PROBS IN MKE.
