HOW THE PROB AROSE: PATTERN FLYING -- TKOF AND LNDGS FULL STOP AT GBG; VFR. I TOOK OFF ON RWY 3; ENTERED L XWIND FOR DOWNWIND LEG. MIDFIELD ANOTHER AIRPLANE ANNOUNCED ON CTAF THAT HE WAS ON LOC APCH TO RWY 3. I WAS BUSY LOOKING FOR TFC. AFTER TFC HAD PASSED; I TURNED BASE -- ABOUT 5 MI FROM RWY 3. WHILE ON BASE; OR POSSIBLY STILL ON DOWNWIND; 2 NEW PLANES ENTERED THE PATTERN AND THE CESSNA ANNOUNCED HE WAS TURNING BASE AFTER WE ANNOUNCED WE WERE TURNING FINAL FOR RWY 3. ON FINAL; CESSNA ANNOUNCED HIS INTENTIONS OF A GAR. I WAS VERY BUSY LOOKING FOR TFC. FORGOT GUMPS. LANDED GEAR UP. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: HAD INSTRUCTOR IN R SEAT; A LOT OF TFC AT ONE TIME. DISTR FROM ROUTINE AND VISUAL FIELD MARKERS FOR REFS. DISTR TO LOOK FOR TFC AND RADIO COMS. HOW DISCOVERED: SUDDEN JARRING STOP AND LOUD NOISE OF METAL ON PAVEMENT. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: WILLINGNESS TO GO AROUND SOONER. NO NEED FOR 'FIRST TO LAND' DESPITE THERE BEING EXCESSIVE ACTIVITY AND DISTRS IN COCKPIT. PERCEPTIONS; JUDGEMENTS; DECISIONS: POOR -- NO NEED TO LAND WHEN THINGS ARE NOT OK. ACTIONS INACTIONS: FAILURE TO PERFORM ROUTINE ACTIONS WHILE IN PATTERN. FACTORS AFFECTING QUALITY: DESIRE TO DO WELL WITH NEW INSTRUCTOR.
