FLC OF A B737-700 FOLLOWED THE WRONG SID DEP AFTER TKOF CAUSING TWR CTLR TO HEAD THEM IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION BEFORE TURNING THEM OVER TO DEP CTL.
Narrative
ON OUR FLT FROM PHX TO CLE; THE COMPANY HAD FILED US VIA THE DRYHT 1; DRYHT J74 CNX; ETC. ATC CHANGED THE RTE TO SJN2 SJN J74 IRW. THE PDC SHOWED THIS CHANGE IN THE APPROPRIATE MANNER. FO RECEIVED THE PDC AND LOADED THE FMC WITHOUT NOTICING THE CHANGE. I THEN RETURNED FROM OPS WITH PAPERWORK; ETC. I TOOK A QUICK LOOK AT THE PDC (TOO QUICK) AND ALSO DID NOT NOTICE THE RERTE ON DEP. WE THEN TOOK OFF (FO WAS FLYING); BOTH THINKING WE WERE ON THE DRYHT 1 WHICH CALLS FOR HDG 240 DEGS TO THE PXR 9 DME FIX; THEN L TO 140 DEG HDG. TWR DIDN'T HAND US OFF TO DEP RIGHT AWAY; SO I ASKED IF WE SHOULD SWITCH. HE THEN SAID IT APPEARED WE WERE ON A 240 DEG HDG ON THE DRYHT DEP. HE THEN SAID TO FLY RWY HDG AND RESUME THE SJN2 DEP. WE COMPLIED; THINKING ATC HAD FAILED TO GIVE US THE RERTE ON THE GND. LATER; WE CHKED THE PDC AND FOUND OUT WE WERE WRONG. WE DEPARTED RWY 26R. IT'S A GOOD THING NO ONE WAS DEPARTING RWY 26L AT THE TIME. THE LCL (TWR) CTLR WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL ABOUT THE WHOLE THING. NEXT TIME I'LL CHK THE PDC MOST CAREFULLY. PERHAPS THE FAA COULD FIND A BETTER WAY TO HIGHLIGHT THESE CHANGES ON THE PDC.
