ALT OVERSHOOT W OF WHITE PLAINS; NY.
Narrative
WE WERE CLRED VIA THE WESTCHESTER ONE DEP. AFTER TURNING W WE WERE CLRED TO AN INTERMEDIATE ALT AND THEN TO 7000 FT. I SET THE ALT ALERTER TO 7000 FT AND CONFIRMED ARMED AND VERT SPD ON BOTH FLT DIRECTORS. THE ALERTER SOUNDED AND I CONFIRMED 'ONE TO GO.' WE THEN GOT A HEADING CHANGE; TCASII TA AND CTLR ADVISORY ALL ABOUT THE SAME TIME. AFTER CHANGING MY HEADING BUG AND LOOKING OUT TO FIND THE TFC; I SAW WE WERE CLBING THROUGH OUR ASSIGNED ALT. I POINTED TO THE ALT SELECTED AND SAID '7000 FT ASSIGNED' SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE CAPT RETARDED THE PWR AND DSNDED TO 7000 FT AS RAPIDLY AS POSSIBLE. THE CTLR ASKED OUR ALT; WHICH WAS THEN BACK TO 7000 FT. THIS CAPT LIKES TO FLY FAST; PARTICULARLY IN THE VERT MODE. WE WERE ON A SHORT FLT AND AT A LIGHT WT; WHICH GAVE THIS ACFT GREAT CLB CAPABILITY. THE PF INCREASED HIS ALREADY AGGRESSIVE CLB WHEN WE GOT THE TCASII TA; WHICH WAS UNNECESSARY WITH LESS THAN 1000 FT TO GO. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE A MISTAKE IN THE DISPATCH PROCESS; OUR PAX SHOWED UP 1 HR EARLIER THAN SHOWN; AND A NEW FLT HOSTESS WHO HAD MINIMAL CHARTER EXPERIENCE DIDN'T GET HER GALLEY PROPERLY CATERED; AND MADE SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE COCKPIT TO ASK IF WE KNEW WHERE THINGS WERE. NEXT TIME I WILL BE MORE ASSERTIVE ABOUT POINTING OUT VERT SPD AND KEEPING A BETTER BAL BTWN SITUATIONAL AWARENESS AND LOOKING FOR TFC. I'LL ALSO TRY TO SLOW UP THE PACE SO WE DON'T FEEL SO RUSHED.
