A B767-300 CARGO FLC TURNS ONTO THE WRONG TXWY WHILE SUPPORTING SEVERAL COCKPIT ACTIVITIES ON THE WAY TO RWY 17R AT SDF; KY.

Narrative

ON TAXI OUT FROM RAMP; GND INSTRUCTED A TAXI RTE TO RWY 17R; TXWYS D-G-B. DUE TO TRAINING AND EXPECTED RWY CHANGE; SEVERAL ACTIVITIES WERE TAKING PLACE IN THE COCKPIT AND A TURN ONTO TXWY F (INSTEAD OF TXWY G) WAS MADE. A GND VEHICLE ON THE OTHER END OF TXWY F SAW OUR TURN AND CONFIRMED HIS CLRNC ONTO TXWY F WHICH BROUGHT MY ATTN TO THE MISTAKE. I STOPPED ACFT UNTIL GND CLRED US TO CONTINUE ON TXWY F TO TXWY B TO RWY 17R. CLRLY; A DISTR INSIDE THE COCKPIT CAUSED THE PROB AND WAS ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. THE IMPORTANCE OF TAXI CLRNC AND BRIEFING; ALONG WITH DEFERRING COCKPIT CHANGES UNTIL ON 'STRAIGHT-AWAYS' OR UNTIL ACFT IS STOPPED; WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE OCCURRENCE. BECAUSE OF OUR FAMILIARITY WITH THIS ARPT; IN THIS CASE; IT MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO OUR OVERCONFIDENCE IN PREFERRED TAXI RTES; IE; WHEN TAXIING IN FROM RWY 17L (AFTER LNDG) PREFERRED TAXI RTE TO RAMPS IS TXWY D-F-B/C TO RAMP. WHEN TAXIING OUT TO RWY 17R FROM RAMPS TXWY D-G-B/C TO RWY 17R IS STANDARD. WE WILL MENTION THIS IN OUR CREW INFO PAGES TO HIGHLIGHT ERROR.
