C152 PLT LANDS ON CLOSED RWY AFTER BEING PREVIOUSLY BRIEFED OF THE CLOSURE.
Narrative
I RECEIVED THE NOTAM CONCERNING THE CLOSED RWY 17-35 IN ABR; HOWEVER I FAILED TO WRITE IT DOWN. WHILE ENRTE TO ABR I CHANGED MY RTE OF FLT TO MBG. HOWEVER; FSS COULD NOT REACH MBG'S FBO BY PHONE SO I WAS NOT POSITIVE I COULD GET GAS. AT THAT POINT I CHOSE TO CONTINUE TO ABR KNOWING I COULD GET GAS THERE. AFTER THE CONFUSION OF SWITCHING MY FLT PLAN AROUND I FORGOT THAT AT ABR; RWY 17-35 WAS CLOSED. ARRIVING INTO ABR I RECEIVED AWOS AND THE WINDS WERE RPTING 170 DEGS AND VELOCITY UNAVAILABLE. I CHOSE TO LAND RWY 17 AND MADE A CALL OVER CTAF 5 MI OUT INBOUND FOR LNDG. NEXT CALL MADE WAS XWIND FOR RWY 17. NO RESPONSE FROM ANYONE. LAST CALL MADE; BASE FOR RWY 17; STILL NO RESPONSES. CONTINUING INTO SHORT FINAL; RWY 17 WAS CLR OF OBSTRUCTIONS AND NO 'X' MARKINGS WERE NOTED ON RWY SURFACE. I HAD TO TAXI DOWN RWY 17 FOR APPROX 3000 FT FOR TURN-OFF; AGAIN NO OBSTRUCTIONS; NO 'X' MARKINGS. THEN I PROCEEDED TO TAXI CLR OF RWY 17 AND A CALL WAS MADE OVER THE RADIO (CTAF) BY UNKNOWN ACFT ASKING IF RWY 17 WAS CLOSED AND THEN SOMEONE; UNKNOWN; REPLIED CONFIRMING THAT IT WAS CLOSED. THIS IS THE POINT I REALIZED MY MISTAKE. I HAVE 3 RECOMMENDATIONS TO HELP PREVENT THIS TYPE OF MISTAKE AGAIN. 1) WRITE DOWN NOTAM AND REVIEW BEFORE GETTING TO ARPT; 2) CONTACT FSS PRIOR TO ARR FOR REMINDER OF ANY NOTAM D OR L ON ANY OTHER PERTINENT WX INFO; 3) EVEN IF A RWY IS CLOSED BY NOTAM THERE SHOULD STILL BE 'X'S' ON THE RWY TO IDENT CLOSED RWYS EASIER.
