CAPT OF A B767-200 BECAME ILL DURING FLT RESULTING IN THE FO DECLARING AN EMER ON FINAL FOR CAPT INCAPACITATION.

Narrative

ABEAM CLEVELAND; ON A LAX-JFK FLT; THE CAPT OF ACR X FLT BEGAN TO COMPLAIN OF AN UPSET STOMACH. HE STEPPED BACK TO THE LAVATORY FOR A COUPLE OF MINS. UPON HIS RETURN TO THE COCKPIT; HE STATED THAT HE FELT FINE NOW. I QUESTIONED HIM ABOUT HIS STOMACH ACHE AND ASKED IF HE WANTED TO DIVERT TO A NEARBY ARPT. HE REITERATED THAT HE FELT FINE NOW. APPROX 30 MINS LATER; THE SAME THING HAPPENED. AT THIS TIME; WE WERE ABOUT TO BEGIN OUR DSCNT INTO JFK. CAPT CONTACTED A UNIFORMED; ACR X; B767 FO THAT WAS DEADHEADING TO JFK. SHE CAME UP TO THE COCKPIT AND CAPT ASKED HER TO SIT IN THE JUMP SEAT TO HELP OUT AND OBSERVE SINCE HE WAS FEELING ILL. SHE AGREED AND I BRIEFED HER AND CAPT ON A VISUAL APCH BACKED UP BY THE ILS RWY 31R AT JFK. WE BEGAN OUR DSCNT AND CAPT AGAIN FELT ILL. HE ASKED ACR FO TO SIT IN HIS SEAT WHILE HE WENT TO THE LAVATORY. AT THIS TIME; I BRIEFED ACR FO THAT IF CAPT COULD NOT RETURN TO HIS SEAT; I WOULD DECLARE AN EMER AND WE WOULD PREPARE FOR AN INCAPACITATED CAPT LNDG PER OUR FLT MANUAL. CAPT AGAIN SAID HE FELT FINE AND SAT IN HIS SEAT AT 18000 FT. WE WERE GIVEN A HIGH L DOWNWIND 'SLAM DUNK' APCH TO RWY 31R BY NEW YORK APCH. I CONFIGURED EARLY AND HAD THE GEAR DOWN WITH FLAPS 15 DEGS. CAPT COMPLETED THE FINAL DSCNT CHKLIST. AT 4000 FT; ON A 15 MI L BASE; I CALLED FOR FLAPS 20 DEGS; CAPT GRABBED THE TRASH BAG AND BEGAN VOMITING AS HE STEPPED OUT OF HIS SEAT. I TOLD ACR FO TO TAKE HIS SEAT; SHE DID. I IMMEDIATELY DECLARED AN EMER WITH JFK TWR AND ASKED FOR A TUG TO BE STANDING BY AT INTXN W-A. I TOLD TWR WE WOULD CLR THE RWY AND ASK TO BE TOWED IN. I MADE THE LNDG AND EXITED ON W AS PLANNED. CAPT SAID HE FELT FINE TO TAXI APPROX 100 YARDS STRAIGHT AHEAD TO MEET THE TUG. ACR FO AND I AGREED THAT THAT WAS SAFE. CAPT TAXIED TO THE TUG AND WE WERE TOWED TO THE GATE. CAPT THOUGHT THAT THE LOX (RAW SALMON) HE ATE WITH HIS CREW MEAL MADE HIM SICK.
