Synopsis

CONFLICT WITH GND VEHICLE AT M41; MS.

Narrative

THE RPTR FUELED HIS AIRPLANE PRIOR TO TAKING SOME PAX ON A SHORT SIGHTSEEING FLT IN THE M41 ARPT VICINITY. HE NOTED VEHICLES NEAR THE RWY AT DEP TIME BUT THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT BECAUSE THAT WAS COMMON AT THIS ARPT. VEHICLES OFTEN USED THE RWY TO GET AROUND THE ARPT. ON RETURN TO THE ARPT; CTAF PROCS WERE USED BUT A VEHICLE ENTERED THE RWY AND A GAR WAS MADE. IT WAS NOTED; DURING THE GAR; THAT THERE WERE NOW PEOPLE NEAR THE VEHICLES THAT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY OBSERVED. A SECOND APCH WAS MADE OVER TREES ON THE ARR END OF THE RWY FOLLOWED BY A NORMAL LNDG. IT WAS NOTED THAT THERE MIGHT BE AN ACFT AT THE FAR END OF THE RWY. WHEN PARKED; SEVERAL VEHICLES APCHED THE RPTR MANNED BY THE POLICE; THE FAA AND A LCL FBO OPERATOR. THEY INFORMED HIM THAT HE CAME WITHIN 5 FT OF A TRUCK THEY WERE USING TO REMOVE AN AIRPLANE FROM THE RWY DURING THE INVESTIGATION OF AN ACCIDENT. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE RPTR HAD LEFT HIS LICENSE AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATE IN HIS CAR. HE HAD NOT INTENDED TO LEAVE THE TFC PATTERN. THE FAA ADVISED THAT HE WOULD BE CONTACTED. THIS HAS TRAUMATIZED THE RPTR TO THE EXTENT THAT HE FEELS HIS REPUTATION MAY BE HURT. HE HAS ARRANGED FOR TRAINING AT THIS ARPT BEFORE FLYING AGAIN.
