A JETSTREAM 32 IN CRUISE AT 8000 FT DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO THE LEFT ENG SPOOL DOWN CAUSED BY A KINKED FUEL LINE.
Narrative
CRUISE FLT 8000 FT MSL LEFT ENG SHUT DOWN. DECLARED EMER. LANDED AT NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THIS WAS AN UNCOMMANDED ENG SHUTDOWN CAUSED BY A KINKED FUEL LINE RESTRICTING FUEL TO THE ENG. THE RPTR SAID SEVEN OF THESE EVENTS HAVE HAPPEN IN 2 DAYS; MAINLY ON THE GND. THE RPTR STATED AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE HAS BEEN ISSUED TO CORRECT THE KINKING OF THE FUEL SUPPLY LINE BTWN THE FIREWALL AND THE ENG FUEL PUMP. THE RPTR SAID AFTER THE DIVERSION THE ENG WAS RUN ON THE GND AND OPERATED OK THEN FERRIED TO ZZZ MAINT BASE AND RUN AGAIN WHERE IT FAILED. THE RPTR STATED ONE INCIDENT INVOLVED THE AIRPLANE ON TKOF WHEN PWR WAS APPLIED THE ENG FAILED AND RETURNED TO THE GATE WHERE IT WAS RUN AT HIGH PWR AND OPERATED OK BUT THEN FAILED ON THE 2ND TKOF ATTEMPT. THE RPTR SAID HE DID NOT HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT THE AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE CHANGES OR MODIFIES AND DOES NOT KNOW THE ACCOMPLISHMENT STATUS ON THE CARRIER'S FLEET.
