Narrative

WHILE ADMINISTERING IOE TO STUDENT SO; IN ACCORDANCE WITH FAR 121.434; WE EXCEEDED 8 HRS OF FLYING WITHIN A 24 HR PERIOD. ON AUG/THU/00; WE FLEW FROM BRO TO DAY CONTINUING ON TO RDU AND MCO. AT DAY; WE HAD A BLOCK TURN-BACK PRIOR TO CONTINUING TO RDU. THE DUTY DAY STARTED AT XA40Z AND ENDED AT XN35 WITH A TOTAL BLOCK TIME OF 6 HRS 3 MINS. ON AUG/FRI/00; WE FLEW FROM MCO TO RDU CONTINUING TO DAY. AT DAY; I REQUESTED AND RECEIVED PERMISSION TO TRADE TRIPS TO COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED TRAINING; IE; CHANGING TO A DIFFERENT SERIES OF THE SAME TYPE ACFT. DUE TO A MISCALCULATION OF TIMES WE DEPARTED FOR DEN NOT REALIZING THAT WE WERE GOING TO EXCEED 8 FLT HRS IN A 24 HR PERIOD. DUTY TIME STARTED AT XA47 AND ENDED AT XL10 WITH A TOTAL BLOCK TIME OF 5 HRS 45 MINS. ON AUG/SAT/00; I ADMINISTERED TO THE STUDENT AN INITIAL FE LINE CHK FROM DEN TO DAY. DUTY TIME STARTED AT XA00 AND ENDED AT XD01 WITH A TOTAL BLOCK TIME OF 2 HRS 31 MINS. UPON ARR AT DAY; I PULLED UP THE COMPUTER TIME TRACK TO CONFIRM ALL FLT TIMES FOR THE TRAINING PERIOD. WHILE CONFIRMING THE TIMES WITH CREW SCHEDULING IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT WE HAD EXCEEDED 8 HRS OF FLT TIME IN A 24 HR PERIOD ON AUG/THU/00 AND AUG/FRI/00 AND HAD NOT DOUBLED OUR REST PERIOD IN DEN -- WHICH ALSO MADE THE RETURN TRIP DEN TO DAY ILLEGAL; INVALIDATING THE INITIAL FE LINE CHK. AFTER CONFIRMING THE TIME DISCREPANCY WITH THE FLT MGR AND CREW SCHEDULING; THE STUDENT AND I WERE RELIEVED OF ALL DUTIES AND THE CHIEF PLT WAS ADVISED OF THE PROB.
