MD11 CREW HAD A TCASII RA IN EGTT CLASS A AIRSPACE.

Narrative

FO WAS MONITORING LONDON CTL; CAPT AND RELIEF OFFICER WERE RECEIVING OCEANIC CLRNC FROM SHANWICK RADIO WHEN CREW RECEIVED AURAL 'TFC' ALERT; FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY 'CLB; CLB; CLB' AND ATTENDANT VISUAL CUES AND WARNINGS. PF (CAPT) DISCONNECTED AUTOPLT; ADDED PWR AND CLBED ACCORDING TO COMMANDS. CLB CONTINUED UNTIL 'MONITOR VERT SPD' ALERT. DSCNT BACK TO FL280 WAS COMMENCED AT 'CLR OF CONFLICT' ALERT. ALT GAIN NOT ACCURATELY NOTED; BUT ESTIMATED BTWN 500-1000 FT. LONDON CTLR ASKED IF WE HAD GOTTEN A TCASII ALERT AS HE NOTED OUR CLB. AT THE SAME TIME HE SAW OTHER ACFT'S ALT READOUT JUMP FROM FL270 TO FL273. AFTER QUESTIONING THE OTHER ACFT; THE CTLR RELAYED THAT THE PLT SAID HE WAS IN 'BUMPY AIR' AND HAD CLBED TO FL273 AS A RESULT OF IT. ALTHOUGH OUR ACFT WAS DEVIATING AROUND A BUILDUP; FLT CONDITIONS WERE VMC AND SMOOTH. LONDON CTL LATER CALLED AND SAID A RPT WOULD BE FILED 'TAKING ACTION' AGAINST THE OTHER ACFT FOR VIOLATING OUR AIRSPACE. TARGET ACFT WAS NOT ACQUIRED VISUALLY UNTIL LESS THAN 1 MI AND THEN ONLY BY RELIEF OFFICER. VIS VMC AND DUSK. FLT CONTINUED TO DEST (EWR) WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
