A C340 PVT PLT MAKES A GEAR UP LNDG AT TEB; NJ.
Narrative
I DEPARTED HTO IN MARGINALLY VFR CONDITIONS. MY DEST WAS TEB. I HAD INTENDED LEAVING AT APPROX AB00; BUT WAS DELAYED ASSISTING MY DAUGHTER WITH A FAMILY PROB. I DID NOT OBTAIN A WX BRIEFING; BUT PLANNED TO FILE WHILE AIRBORNE IF CONDITIONS DETERIORATED. THE CONDITIONS WERE MVFR THROUGHOUT THE FLT; SO I DID NOT FILE IFR. AFTER LISTENING TO ATIS; I CONTACTED TEB TWR AND WAS GIVEN VECTOR TO DOWNWIND RWY 6 TO FOLLOW IN SEQUENCE OTHER ACFT ON 2 MI FINAL. TWR ASKED ME TO RPT OTHER ACFT IN SIGHT; AND MY ATTN WAS DIRECTED OUT L WINDOWS. I NEVER DID SEE OTHER ACFT; BUT TWR ADVISED BOTH ACFT WERE IN SIGHT AND THAT I SHOULD TURN BASE. I HAD REMAINED AT PATTERN ALT TO AVOID CONFLICT WITH LNDG ACFT. MY BASE LEG WAS (I ESTIMATE) WITHIN 1 MI OF THRESHOLD. AS A RESULT; DSCNT WAS STEEP. I APPLIED FULL FLAPS AND DSNDED. AT NO TIME DID I HEAR GEAR UP ANNUNCIATOR; WHICH SHOULD HAVE SOUNDED DUE TO FULL FLAPS AND FULL PWR REDUCTION. I WAS FOCUSED ON LNDG FROM HIGH; CLOSE-IN POS AND DID NOT LOOK FOR 3 GREEN INDICATION. THIS; PLUS FAILURE OF AURAL WARNING; COMBINED IN A RESULT OF A GEAR UP LNDG. HAD I FILED IFR; I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN VECTORED FOR AN ILS 6 APCH. IN HINDSIGHT; THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SAFER; PREFERABLE SCENARIO. I WAS SOLE OCCUPANT OF ACFT AND SUSTAINED NO INJURIES WHATSOEVER.
