A BE36 PVT PLT CLBS INTO THE CLASS B AIRSPACE OF N90 WHEN SHE FAILS TO IDENT THE CORRECT BRIDGE BEING USED IN HER NAV PROC W OF LGA; NY.

Narrative

THIS WAS THE FIRST FLT IN THE NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY AREA. OBTAINED BRIEFING FROM LCL PLTS FOR PROC TO FLY N; OVER THE HUDSON RIVER; FROM VERRAZANO BRIDGE TO TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE. I MAINTAINED 900 FT MSL ALONG RTE. UPON APCH TO GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE; WHICH I DID NOT SEE ON THE NEW YORK TERMINAL CHART; BEGAN SLOW CLB TO 1500 FT. UNFORTUNATELY; I MISTOOK THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE TO BE THE TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE AND CONTINUED A SLOW CLB TO 3000 FT. I THEN SAW ANOTHER BRIDGE WHICH I THOUGHT WAS OFF THE TERMINAL CHART. CROSSED THE BRIDGE AT APPROX 3500-3800 FT AND THEN REALIZED IT MUST BE THE TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE. THE AIRSPACE CLASS B FLOOR WAS 3000 FT FOR LGA; SO I MOST LIKELY VIOLATED CLASS B AIRSPACE SOMEWHERE N OF GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE AND S OF TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE. IN THE FUTURE; I WILL SET THE VOR/DME TO LGA; AND MAINTAIN 900 FT UNTIL WELL CLR OF THE CLASS B AIRSPACE ALONG THE HUDSON RIVER. NO OTHER TFC WAS SIGHTED BTWN GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE AND TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE DURING THE RTE OVER THE HUDSON RIVER; N.
