A LATE INTERCEPT CLRNC; UNFAVORABLE WIND AND ACFT LIMITATIONS RESULT IN A LOC OVERSHOOT ON ILS APCH TO DEN; CO.

Narrative

WHILE BEING VECTORED FOR THE ILS TO RWY 35R; WE WERE GIVEN A HEADING OF 330 DEGS AND CLRED TO INTERCEPT THE LOC -- CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 35R APCH. I MADE THE PROPER SELECTIONS ON THE AUTOPLT CTL PANEL BUT WE CROSSED THROUGH THE LOC BEFORE THE AUTOPLT COULD CAPTURE IT. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED TO A HEADING TO RE-INTERCEPT THE LOC. ATC CALLED TO ADVISE THAT WE WERE L OF COURSE AND POSSIBLY INTERCEPTING THE PARALLEL ILS. WE INFORMED THEM THAT WE WERE RE-INTERCEPTING THE CORRECT ILS BUT THE TURN AND APCH CLRNC WERE NOT ISSUED IN TIME FOR A NORMAL INTERCEPT. WE DID NOT RECEIVE A TCASII ADVISORY. HOWEVER; ATC DID DIVERT AN ACFT THAT WAS APCHING ON THE PARALLEL RWY. ATC ADVISED ME THAT I NEED TO BE 'MORE CAREFUL' ON SIMULTANEOUS APCHS. I ADVISED THEM THEY NEED TO DO A BETTER JOB WITH THE VECTOR AND APCH CLRNC. THE ONLY WAY I COULD HAVE AVOIDED FLYING THROUGH THE LOC WOULD HAVE BEEN TO TURN OFF THE AUTOPLT AND ROLL TO 45 DEG BANK. SINCE A TFC CONFLICT WAS NOT INVOLVED; I ELECTED TO STAY WITHIN NORMAL FLT PARAMETERS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 487410: A LOT OF TFC IS BEING JAMMED INTO DEN ON CLOSELY SPACED RWYS MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR ATC TO GET EVERY TURN ON RIGHT AND THESE TRANSPORT CATEGORY AIRPLANES ONLY TURN SO FAST.
