CABIN ATTENDANT RPT; B767-300; ORD-FCO. BOARDING; PAX WITH OVERSIZED BAG REFUSED TO CHK IT. PUSHED BAG INTO CABIN ATTENDANT'S LEG; INJURING HER. CAPT INTERVENTION. BAG CHKED.

Narrative

ACCORDING TO OUR BOARDING FLT ATTENDANT #2; MS X; I REFUSED TO CHK HER 2 OVERSIZED BAGS. WHEN SHE BOARDED; SHE TOLD OUR PURSER (FLT ATTENDANT #1) THAT SHE (MS X) WAS A *&%#@ BECAUSE SHE ALWAYS CARRIES ALL HER LUGGAGE ON BOARD. WHEN SHE GOT TO ROW X SHE COULDN'T GET ONE THROUGH THE AISLE AND BLOCKED THE OTHER PAX. SHE TOLD ME TO DO SOMETHING WITH IT; SO I TOLD HER TO CHK IT SINCE IT WAS SO HVY AND LARGE THAT SHE COULDN'T GET IT DOWN THE AISLE. SHE REFUSED. IN ORDER TO CONTINUE WITH OUR BOARDING PROCESS; IT BECAME NECESSARY FOR ME TO PUSH THE BAG OUT OF THE WAY. SHE THEN TOOK THE BAG AND PUSHED IT (IT WAS ON WHEELS) INTO MY LEGS; INJURING THE BONE ON THE FRONT OF MY L LEG. I WAS IN A LOT OF PAIN AND SHE SAID 'CLAIM WORKMEN'S COMP!' I THEN PROCEEDED TO THE COCKPIT AND TOLD CAPT X. SHE FINALLY REALIZED THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE SIT AND FOLLOWED ME TO THE COCKPIT. SHE TOLD CAPT X THAT SHE WAS 'SO SORRY;' THAT IT WAS 'AN ACCIDENT.' HE TOLD HER WE FLT ATTENDANTS WERE THERE FOR HER SAFETY AND WE WERE NOT HER SLAVES; THAT SHE IS TO COOPERATE WITH OUR INSTRUCTIONS. SHE 'GLADLY' TOOK THE BAG OUT TO THE AGENT AND CHKED IT. SHE COOLED DOWN; BUT WAS SOMEWHAT DEMANDING DURING THE FLT. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE AGENTS TO MISS THIS BAG AT THE GATE. SHE INTERFERED WITH MY DUTIES; WHICH IS AGAINST FAA REGS. SHE ASSAULTED ME; WHICH CAPT X SAID WE COULDN'T PROVE. BUT I HAVE FLT ATTENDANT #6 AS MY WITNESS. IF THE BAG SIZER AT THE TICKET COUNTERS AND GATES IS NOT UTILIZED; AS STATED IN OUR MANUAL IT MUST BE CHKED.
