Narrative
BOTH COPLT AND I READ THE DEP PROC AND THOUGHT IT MEANT: DEPART RWY 12; CLBING R TURN TO 340 DEG HDG; ALL ACFT CLB VIA BZN VOR 284 DEG RADIAL. THAT'S WHAT WE DID. ABOUT 2-3 MI FROM BZN; VOR 284 DEG RADIAL; WE GOT HOLD OF CTR AND THEY SAID WE SHOULD BE GOING DIRECT MKE. WE TURNED DIRECT AND AFTER A FEW MINS I ASKED CTR ABOUT THE DEP PROC; IF WE DID NOT DO IT CORRECTLY. HE SAID THAT WE SHOULD HAVE STARTED THE CLB TO 8000 FT THEN CLBING L TURN DIRECT BZN VOR THEN ON COURSE. THE COPLT AND I BOTH THOUGHT THAT WAS PART OF THE WBOUND TFC READING IT AS ...;'ACFT DEPARTING WBOUND VIA V343 CLB ON COURSE.' (WE READ ALL OTHER WBOUND NOT ON V343) ALL OTHER (EBOUND) CONTINUE CLB TO 8000 FT; THEN CLBING L TURN DIRECT BZN VOR. THIS DEP; I THINK; SHOULD BE REWRITTEN SINCE BOTH OF US READ IT DIFFERENT THAN PRINTED. WE BOTH SAW THE LAST PART AS WBOUND INFO. CTR SAID THAT THERE WAS NO CONFLICT OF TFC OR ANY HAZARD OR PROB CAUSED BY US. THE WAY CTR EXPLAINED IT; IT SOUNDED LIKE WE WERE NOT THE FIRST TO MISREAD THIS DEP PROC.
