A DEHAVILLAND DASH 8-200 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE INCORRECT GENERATOR AND STARTER COOLING SHROUD INSTALLED.
Narrative
DUE TO LACK OF MAN PWR AT ACR AIRLINES. I GOT THE CALL FROM MAINT CTL THAT ACR XYZ WAS COMING IN AND NEEDS THE #2 STARTER GENERATOR REMOVED AND REPLACED. WE GOT THE PARTS TOGETHER; WENT OUT TO THE RAMP AND MET THE AIRPLANE. MY PARTNER IMMEDIATELY BEGAN THE REMOVAL AFTER THE ENGS WERE SHUT DOWN. ONCE THE PAX UNLOADED I RETRIEVED THE LOGBOOK AND BROUGHT IT BACK TO OUR WORK TRUCK. AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED; MY PARTNER ALONG WITH THE PLTS STARTED AND RAN THE OPS CHK. I WAS SIGNALED THAT THE OPS CHK WAS GOOD. I FINISHED UP THE PAPERWORK WHILE MY PARTNER DID THE LEAK. AS HE WAS CLOSING THE COWLING I BROUGHT THE LOGBOOK TO THE ACFT. MY PARTNER PUT THE REMOVED STARTER GENERATOR BACK IN THE BOX THEN WE SHIPPED IT TO THE REPAIR STATION. THE NEXT DAY THE REPAIR STATION RECEIVED THE REMOVED STARTER/GENERATOR AND SAW THAT THE 200 SERIES SHROUD WAS NOT SWAPPED OVER TO THE SERVICEABLE STARTER/GENERATOR. THE SHOP THEN CALLED MAINT CTL WHO THEN CALLED US TO CONFIRM SHROUDS WERE NOT SWAPPED OUT. THE PLANE MISSED 2 FLTS BEFORE THEY COULD HAVE THE SHROUDS SWAPPED. ALL SERVICEABLE STARTER/GENERATORS COME WITH A 100 SERIES ENG SHROUD. WHEN A STARTER GENERATOR GOES ON A 123 ENG; THE SHROUDS MUST BE SWAPPED. I KNEW THIS AND THOUGHT MY PARTNER SWAPPED THEM. I FOUND LATER THAT HE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE DIFFERENCE BTWN THE SHROUD.
