Narrative

I WAS FLYING VFR INTO DE WITT SPAIN ARPT; TN. I SAW AND HEARD A CESSNA ON XWIND LEG. AFTER HE (ACFT Y) MADE HIS INITIAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF BEING ON XWIND AND DOWNWIND FOR RWY 34; I FOLLOWED UP BY ANNOUNCING THAT I WAS ABOUT TO ENTER BASE LEG FOR RWY 34. HE SAID 'WHERE ARE YOU?' I ADVISED 'I AM ENTERING BASE LEG FOR RWY 34.' HE ADVISED 'I DON'T SEE YOU.' I STATED 'I AM TURNING FINAL FOR RWY 34.' HE STATED 'I STILL DON'T SEE YOU.' (HE IS SBOUND AND I AM ON SHORT FINAL.) I ADVISED 'SIR! LOOK OUT YOUR L WINDOW AND YOU WILL SEE ME ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 34.' HE STATED 'OH; YES; I SEE YOU NOW!' AFTER LNDG; I HEARD HIM ANNOUNCE THAT HE WAS GOING AROUND AND THAT HE WAS WITH THE FAA. CLR OF THE RWY; I TURNED THE RADIOS OFF. 10 MINS LATER HE SHOWED UP AND WANTED TO SEE MY LICENSE AND PHYSICAL. I THINK THE GENTLEMAN OVERREACTED; AND COULD HAVE EXTENDED HIS DOWNWIND BY 30 SECONDS AND BEEN FINE. HE IS AN ELDERLY GENTLEMAN AND SOMEONE SHOULD CHK HIS EYE SIGHT AND HEARING. AFTER HE CALMED DOWN; HE SEEMED TO BE AN OK GUY. I APOLOGIZED FOR INCONVENIENCING HIM; WE SHOOK HANDS; AND HE PARTED.
