B737-800 HAD EXCESSIVE PULL TO THE L DURING TKOF ROLL.

Narrative

FO TKOF. REJECTED TKOF AT APPROX 90 KTS; DUE TO UNUSUAL R RUDDER INPUT (ABOUT 1/4) TO KEEP ACFT ON RWY CTRLINE. BOTH PLTS STARTED TO NOTICE RUDDER INPUT AT 40 KTS. CHKED RUDDER TRIM INDICATOR AT ZERO. FOR TROUBLESHOOTING MOVED RUDDER TRIM SLIGHTLY L THEN R TO ZERO; FELT NO CHANGE TO PROB. ABORTED TKOF; CALLED FIRE EQUIP TO CHK ACFT. TWR RPTED SMALL AMOUNT OF BRAKE SMOKE FROM L GEAR. THEY SAID IT WAS SAFE AND NO SMOKE ONLY WARM BRAKES. HAD SENIOR MECH VERIFY FINDING OF FIREMAN. TOWED ACFT TO GATE; AND DEPLANED PAX AFTER MAINT WORK AND CHK OF ACFT. FLC PERFORMED VERIFICATION; BY TAXI OUT AND HIGH SPD RWY CHK. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED SATISFACTORILY. RETURNED TO GATE FOR BRAKE COOLING AND LOADED PAX. DEPARTED AVA UNEVENTFULLY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: AFTER RETURNING TO THE GATE MAINT DID AN EXTENSIVE ACFT INSPECTION. THE RUDDER SYS WAS CHKED. THE TRIM SYS WAS CHKED. THE RUDDER TRIM INDICATOR OP WAS NORMAL. THE ACFT MAIN GEAR WAS JACKED AND DRAGGING BRAKES WERE CHKED. STRUT SVC AND EXTENSION WAS NORMAL. NOTHING ABNORMAL WAS FOUND. THE CREW THEN DUPLICATED THE TKOF ON A TEST EVALUATION; AND NO PROBS WERE FOUND. THE TRIP THEN REDEPARTED WITH NO PROBS.
