Narrative
ON FEB/XA/01; OUR FLT DEPARTED PHX AS FLT XXX BOUND FOR SJC. TKOF TIME FROM PHX WAS AT XA28. THE DEP SID FLOWN WAS THE BXK 1 (BUCKEYE 1). AT APPROX 4 MI E OF THE PXR VORTAC; DEP CTL INITIATED RADAR VECTORS AND OUR ALT CLRNC WAS INITIALLY TO FL230. AFTER A SECOND HDG CHANGE ISSUED BY ATC; OUR ALT CLRNC WAS CHANGED TO 11000 FT AND WE WERE ADVISED OF LIGHT ACFT TFC AT OUR 12:30 O'CLOCK POS. WE VISUALLY SEARCHED FOR THE TFC AND WERE UNABLE TO ACQUIRE IT VISUALLY; HOWEVER; DID HAVE THE TARGET ON TCASII. (TARGET WAS DEPICTED AS A HOLLOW DIAMOND AND INDICATED TO BE 700 FT ABOVE OUR ALT.) WE WERE THEN ISSUED A CLRNC TO DIRECT THE BXK VOR WITH AN ALT CLRNC TO 11000 FT. AT THIS TIME; OUR ACFT WAS CLBING THROUGH 10500 FT. AT APPROX 10700 FT; OUR TCASII TFC PRESENTATION CHANGED FROM HOLLOW DIAMOND TO SOLID DIAMOND THEN SUDDENLY TO RED SOLID SQUARE. WE RECEIVED AN AUDITORY RA TO 'DSND' AND COMPLIED WITH THE ADVISORY. (TARGET WAS STILL NOT IN SIGHT.) WE DSNDED TO APPROX 10000 FT. IN A DSNDING R TURN TOWARD THE BXK VOR AND ACQUIRED THE TARGET VISUALLY 1/2 WAY THROUGH THE TURN (500 FT ABOVE OUR ALT AND 1 MI HORIZ SEPARATION.) ATC WAS ADVISED THAT WE HAD AN RA AND WE WERE COMPLYING WITH THE ADVISORY. ATC ACKNOWLEDGED OUR XMISSION. AFTER WE DETERMINED VISUALLY THAT THE TFC CONFLICT WAS NO LONGER A FACTOR; WE INITIATED OUR CLB BACK TO 11000 FT; ADVISED ATC; AND PROCEEDED TO DEST WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
