Synopsis

SF34 FLC INITIATE EVASIVE MANEUVER DUE TO OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC CLBING BELOW; THEN OUTSIDE DFW CLASS B AIRSPACE.

Narrative

WHILE. ON THE GLEN ROSE ARR; TFC WAS CALLED TO US BY ATC. WE WERE ABLE TO IDENT THE TFC BECAUSE THEY HAD THEIR LNDG LIGHT ON. THE TFC WAS ON TCASII AND I NOTED THEY WERE 600 FT BELOW US AND CLBING AT US AT 12 O'CLOCK POS. VERY SOON AFTER; WE GOT A TCASII TA. I NOTED THE TFC SEEMED TO BE TURNING TO MY L; SO I TURNED TO THE R. ATC CALLED AND SAID TO FLY A N HDG (MY L). RIGHT THEN WE GOT A CLB RA. WE EXECUTED A CLB WHILE CONTINUING A TURN TO THE R; AWAY FROM THE TFC. IT HAD BECOME CLR THAT THE TFC HAD TURNED MORE TO MY L (OR FURTHER W) TO AVOID US TOO. WE MAINTAINED VISUAL SIGHT WITH THE TFC THE ENTIRE TIME AND THE TCASII RA WENT TO A 'MONITOR VERT SPD;' THEN 'CLR OF CONFLICT.' OUR CLB STOPPED AT ABOUT 6800 FT. WE THEN DSNDED DOWN TO 5000 FT PER ATC INSTRUCTIONS AND CONTINUED ON THE ARR. ATC SAID THERE WAS [NO] CONFLICT WITH ANY OTHER TFC; BUT A RPT HAD TO BE FILED. THE TFC WAS CLRLY STAYING JUST BELOW THE CLASS B AIRSPACE AND SOON IT WAS CLR; IT WAS CLBING FAST. THE TFC WAS ALSO TRAVELING STRAIGHT DOWN ON STAR IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. CLASS B AIRSPACE NEEDS TO EXTEND FURTHER OUT TOWARD THE 4 CORNER POSTS HERE AT DFW.
