HDOF FROM ONE CTLR TO ANOTHER CTR CTLR WHO CANCELED VFR ADVISORIES TO CODE 1200; 25 MI FROM TUPELO WITHOUT ANY ADVISORIES; JUST 'CONTACT TUPELO TWR.' COMMERCIAL LOW ENRTE CHART LISTS TUPELO AS CTAF 123.05. MADE SEVERAL CALLS WITH NO REPLY. WENT BACK TO MEMPHIS AND ASKED HIM TO VERIFY TWR OPERATING FREQ. CTLR WOULD NOT REPLY; EVEN WITH SECOND REQUEST. BACK TO CTAF; MADE MY CALLS 15-10 MI OUT. CHKED ASOS. WIND 170 DEGS AT 4 KTS. PLANNED L DOWNWIND TO 180. CALLED 5 MI. CHKED ONBOARD GPS FOR FREQ. COULD SET TO CALLED MENU OF FREQ OF TUPELO AND MADE CALL INTO L DOWNWIND; LOOKED FOR TFC ON GND (BOTH DIRECTIONS); EVEN LOOKED FOR A TWR LOCATION ON GND -- SO DID #2 WITH ME.
