Narrative
ON FEB/XA/01 I WAS WORKING A CHK AND WORK RELEASE ITEMS ON ACFT XYZ. 1 JOB CARD WAS TO CHANGE THE MAIN ENTRY DOOR SLIDE FOR TIME. THE STOCK CLERK LEFT THE SLIDE AT THE GATE. THE SLIDE HAD A SVCABLE TAG. I CHANGED SLIDES AND FILLED OUT THE LOG. I HAVE NOW RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THE SVCABLE SLIDE WAS 'OUT OF DATE.' THE PROB STARTED WITH THE FACT THAT THE SVCABLE SLIDE PART NUMBER IS NOT LISTED ON THE ACR SHELF LIFE LIST. THE SLIDE WENT OUT OF DATE ON JAN/XA/01. THE SLIDE WAS THEN SHIPPED BY STORES TO ZZZ STORES. NEITHER LOCATION NOTICED THE SHELF LIFE DATE. AT THAT TIME I'M THINKING THE PART WAS SVCABLE; INSTALLED THE PART. FOR THIS TO NOT HAPPEN AGAIN; THE PART NEEDS TO BE PUT ON THE SHELF LIFE LIST. THE PART EXPIRATION DATE SHOULD APPEAR LARGER (ON THE SVCABLE TAG) THAN 1/8 INCH LETTERS AND POSSIBLY IN A DIFFERENT COLOR. THE DATE SHOULD ALSO APPEAR ON THE CONTAINER. PER ACR THE STORES SUPVR OR DESIGNER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCOMPLISHING A SHELF LIFE CHK OF ALL COMPONENTS. THE SLIDE WAS REPLACED AFTER THE PROB WAS FOUND. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE SLIDES ARE BEING MODIFIED BY ADDING BATTERY PWRED LIGHTS AND MODIFIED THE PART NUMBER IS CHANGED. THE RPTR SAID THIS SLIDE WAS MODIFIED AND THE PART NUMBER WAS CHANGED BUT NEVER ENTERED ON THE SHELF LIFE OR TIME CTLED ITEM LIST. THE RPTR SAID THE CARRIER HAS A GOOD PROC TO CTL THESE TIME CTLED ITEMS BUT THE PART NUMBER MUST BE ENTERED ON THE LIST. THE RPTR STATED THE PART DELIVERED TO THE AIRPLANE HAD A SVCABLE PARTS TAG AND WAS INSTALLED PER THE MAINT MANUAL.
