C172 REACTS TO C182 OVERTAKE ON DEP FROM DAW ARPT.
Narrative
A SKYHAWK WITH 2 ADULTS ON BOARD DEPARTED RWY 33 AT ROCHESTER; NH (SKYHAVEN - DAW) STATING THAT IT WOULD MAKE A R-HAND TURNOUT. KNOWING THAT MY SKYLANE RG WITH HALF TANKS WOULD OVERTAKE HIM QUICKLY; I WAITED UNTIL HE WAS WELL INTO HIS CLB AND AWAY FROM THE N END OF THE RWY. I CLBED AT 1500 FPM KEEPING THE SKYHAWK ON MY L SIDE AND IN FULL VIEW. WHEN HE BEGAN HIS R TURN TO THE NE; SO DID I; KEEPING HIM IN FULL VIEW AND INCREASING OUR VERT SEPARATION. WHEN I PASSED THE SKYHAWK; I WAS APPROX 300 FT HIGHER CLBING AT 1500 FPM AND APPROX 150 FT NE OF IT. SEVERAL MINS AFTER I HAD PASSED OVER THE SKYHAWK'S PATH THE PLT CALLED SKYHAVEN UNICOM INQUIRING OF N-NUMBER AND STATING THAT HE WAS 'GOING TO RPT A NEAR MISS.' I HEARD THIS REQUEST AND TOLD THE PLT THAT I HAD HIM IN SIGHT THE ENTIRE TIME AND DIDN'T THINK THAT THIS CONSTITUTED A NEAR MISS BECAUSE I KEPT PLENTY OF SEPARATION BTWN US. HE INFORMED ME THAT HE 'COULD SEE THE RIVETS ON MY TAIL' AND THAT HE 'HAD TO STOP HIS CLB BECAUSE OF ME.' I STRONGLY DISAGREE AND THINK THIS PLT WAS OVERREACTING. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY AND THERE WERE A NUMBER OF PLANES IN THE PATTERN. I THINK THAT HE WAS SURPRISED TO SEE ME AND I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BROADCASTED MY INTENTIONS TO PASS OVER HIS DIRECTION OF FLT; SO THAT HE WOULD NOT BE OVERTAKEN UNAWARES.
