C182 PLT TOOK EVASIVE ACTION WHEN A C152 HE WAS FOLLOWING AFTER TKOF FROM LOU ABRUPTLY TURNED TOWARD HIS ACFT.

Narrative

ON MAR/TUE/01; I WAS DEPARTING FROM BOWMAN FIELD IN LOUISVILLE; KY. I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 32. I WAS FOLLOWING A C150/C152. MY TKOF WAS VERY CLOSE BEHIND THE CESSNA BECAUSE OF TFC ON FINAL TO RWY 32. I WAS CLRED FOR A R TURN WHICH WOULD TAKE IN THE DIRECTION OF MY DEST (APPROX 30 MI TO THE E). I HAD NOT REQUESTED OR GIVEN FLT FOLLOWING FROM BOWMAN FIELD. I NOTICED THAT MY CLOSURE RATE TO THE CESSNA WAS EXCESSIVE. I REDUCED MY SPD AND STARTED A R TURN TOWARDS MY DEST AND TO PROVIDE SEPARATION FROM THE CESSNA. I THEN OBSERVED THE CESSNA MAKE A R TURN WHICH PARALLELED MY COURSE. THE CESSNA THEN TURNED R AGAIN TOWARDS MY DIRECTION. THE CESSNA PASSED BEHIND MY ACFT WITH APPROX 1/4 MI OR BETTER SEPARATION. SEVERAL THINGS CAME TO MY ATTN WITH THIS EVENT. THE FIRST WAS THE CLOSE DEP BEHIND A MUCH SLOWER ACFT. I COULD HAVE WAITED FOR A BETTER DEP TIME. THE SECOND WAS I WAS EXPECTING THE CESSNA TO GO STRAIGHT OUT OR TURN L. I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THE CESSNA OR TWR WAS USING A R TFC PATTERN FOR TOUCH-AND-GO ACFT. THE THIRD; THIS HAS BEEN A GOOD LESSON; AND I WILL BE MORE AWARE OF EVENTS PRIOR TO MY DEP.
