AN MD80 SCHEDULED ENG BORESCOPE OF NOZZLE COMPONENTS WAS ACCOMPLISHED ON THE WRONG ENG DUE TO A JOB CARD ERROR.

Narrative

I HAD ASSIGNED CARD XX TO THE MECH ON APR/XA/01 TO DO A BORESCOPE. THE CARDS WERE PREVIOUSLY RACKED AND THE CARD WAS IN THE R ENG RACK. I WAS NOTIFIED LATER THAT THE WRONG ENG HAD BEEN BORESCOPED. CARD XX HAS NOWHERE ON IT THAT IDENTS WHICH ENG SHOULD BE WORKED. ALL OTHER ENG CARDS ARE EVEN NUMBERED FOR R ENG; ODD NUMBERED FOR L. THE ONLY WAY TO DETERMINE WOULD BE TO CHK THE BILL OF WORK. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 509992: I WAS ASSIGNED TO DO CARD XX ON THE R-HAND ENG. IT WAS IN MY WORK PACKAGE FOR THE R-HAND ENG. I COMPLETED CARD XX AND LATER LEARNED THAT CARD XX WAS SUPPOSED TO BE COMPLETED ON THE L-HAND ENG. NOWHERE ON CARD XX DOES IT INDICATE WHICH ENG SHOULD BE ACCOMPLISHED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 510015: I BORESCOPED #2 ENG #7 FUEL NOZZLE NUT. I SHOULD HAVE BORESCOPED #1 ENG FUEL NOZZLE NUT. CARD XX WAS IN WITH #2 ENG PAPERWORK CARDS AND I DID NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENT ENG SERIAL NUMBER. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 509993: I AM THE THIRD SHIFT SUPVR; AND WHEN I ARRIVED TO WORK THE INSPECTION HAD BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. THERE WERE 2 MORE ACCOMPLISHMENT BLOCKS LEFT ON FORM X. I SIGNED AND N/A'ED THE BLOCK FOR SIGNING OFF THE ACCOMPLISHMENT IN THE LOGBOOK IN ACCORDANCE WITH GPM. THE PLANNER SIGNED OFF THE LAST BLOCK ON THE FORM AFTER SENDING THE ACCOMPLISHMENT MESSAGE WHICH HAD BEEN FILLED OUT BY THE INSPECTOR. THE BORESCOPE HAD BEEN DONE ON THE WRONG ENG.
