I DEPARTED ZZZ IFR ON MY REGULARLY SCHEDULED RUN TO XXX ARPT. THE TRIP TAKES ABOUT 1 1/2 HRS IN THE BARON BE58. I FLY ON MOST NIGHTS. DURING THE PREVIOUS DAY; I HAD SLEPT MY USUAL 8-9 HRS BEFORE CHKING IN WITH DISPATCH AT XD45. MY RUN STARTS IN ZZZ AND LEAVES FOR YYY; VVV; ZZZ; XXX; A 2-HR BREAK; ZZZ; VVV AND A RETURN TO ZZZ BY XA30. I DEPART FROM ZZZ; GPS DIRECT; AND CLBED TO 6000 FT AND TURNED THE AUTOPLT ON. IN THE VICINITY OF ABCDE VOR; I GOT HANDED OFF TO ZZZ APCH. THEN ABOUT 90 MI OUT FROM XXX I GOT HANDED OFF TO ZZZ CTR. AFTER HAVING FLOWN IN SOME OF THE MOST CONGESTED AND ACTIVE AIRSPACE IN THE COUNTRY; I LEAVE FOR A TRIP INTO PARTS OF THIS COUNTRY WHERE OFTEN YOU CHK YOUR RADIO; AT NIGHT; BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING; BUT SILENCE FOR THE LAST 30 MINS. APPROX 40-50 MINS E OF XXX; I DOZED OFF AND FEEL ASLEEP! (CONSEQUENTLY; WHEN THE ZZZ CTR CTLR TRIED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME FOR A DSCNT AND A HDOF TO XXX APCH; I DID NOT HEAR HIM. I ABRUPTLY WOKE UP RIGHT ON TOP OF ZZX INTL ARPT. I HAD OVERFLOWN MY DEST BY 15-20 MI! ZZZ CTR HAD OBVIOUSLY INFORMED XXX APCH ABOUT THE SIT AND I DO BELIEVE THEY CONTACTED THE CHIEF PLT OF MY COMPANY. ON THE GND WE HAD A LONG CONVERSATION ABOUT HOW LUCKY I HAD BEEN AND HOW I HAVE FLOWN THIS RTE FOR 2 1/2 MONTHS AND I KNOW IT VERY WELL. AND ON THIS VERY CALM AND BEAUTIFUL NIGHT; I LET MY GUARD DOWN AND I LET COMPLACENCY GET THE BET OF ME. AS I WAS LEAVING ZZZ; I SET MYSELF UP TO A RELAXING FLT WHERE VERY LITTLE WOULD BE REQUIRED FROM ME IN ORDER TO GET TO XXX. A SIMPLE FEW EXERCISES CONSISTING OF STRETCHING MY HANDS; ARMS AND LEGS WOULD HAVE KEPT ME FROM FALLING INTO THE TRAP. AND EVEN THOUGH I HAVE FLOWN THIS LEG MANY TIMES; THERE ARE STILL THINGS I CAN DO TO KEEP MY HEAD SHARP.
