Narrative
APPARENTLY THE MODE C WAS INTERMITTENT WHEN I TOOK OFF FROM DAB ON AN ASSIGNED SE HDG; UNDER DEP CTL ENRTE TO APF; FL. EVENTUALLY; I WAS CLRED TO MY INTENDED CRUISE ALT AND DIRECT APF; WHICH TAKES ME THROUGH MCO CLASS B AIRSPACE. INSTEAD OF HANDING ME OFF TO MCO APCH; DAB DEP CANCELED THEIR FLT FOLLOWING AND TOLD ME TO SQUAWK VFR AND TRY MCO APCH ON 121.1 BY THIS TIME I WAS ALREADY IN CLASS B AIRSPACE. WHEN I CONTACTED MCO APCH; THEY SAID MY MODE C WAS INOP AND THAT MY ACCESS TO MCO CLASS B AIRSPACE WAS RESTR. ATC ALSO ADVISED I WAS ALREADY IN CLASS B AIRSPACE. I ASKED FOR AN APPROPRIATE VECTOR AND WAS ASKED TO CONFIRM MY ALT (4500 FT MSL). ATC THEN FINALLY AGREED TO MY TRANSITION OF THE CLASS B AIRSPACE. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: IF DAB IS TO FEED MCO APCH TFC THROUGH THEIR CLASS B AIRSPACE; THERE SHOULD; AT THE VERY LEAST; BE SOME COORD BTWN THE 2 APCH CTL FACILITIES. I WAS GOING INTO CLASS B AIRSPACE ON AN ASSIGNED HDG; UNDER CTL AND NOT HANDED OFF; BUT RATHER CANCELED; HAVING TO CALL MCO APCH; GET A NEW RADAR CONTACT -- ALL OF WHICH WHILE I WAS DIRECTED INTO THE CLASS B AIRSPACE; AT WHICH TIME I WAS TOLD MY ACCESS WAS TO BE RESTR.
