Narrative
ON A ROUND TRIP FROM SAN ANTONIO; TX; WHILE COMING INTO LAND AT DALLAS LOVE FIELD; THE APCH CTLR HANDED ME TO THE TWR. THE TWR CTLR ASKED ME TO TURN R BASE FOR RWY 13R AND RPT. I MISTOOK RWY 13R AND OVERSHOT RWY 13R ON BASE LEG. AT THIS POINT THE TWR CTLR ASKED ME TO TURN L AND CIRCLE AROUND FOR RWY 13L; BUT AGAIN GOT DISORIENTED. AT THIS POINT; SHE ASKED ME TO TURN L; CLB 2000 FT AND CONTACT APCH. THE APCH SUGGESTED I DO AN ILS INTO RWY 13R AND VECTORED ME THE FINAL APCH COURSE. WHILE MAKING THE APCH; I WAS ENCOUNTERED WITH TURB BUFFETING AND GUSTY WINDS. 50 FT OVER THE THRESHOLD; HVY GUST BLEW THE PLANE SIDEWAYS WHICH CAUSED IT TO LOSE ITS CTRLINE APCH. I CORRECTED THIS AND PROCEEDED TO A R; 1-POINT LNDG AND JUST AT THIS POINT; ENCOUNTERED ANOTHER GUST WHICH YAWED THE ACFT UNCTLABLY TO THE L. THE PLANE DEPARTED THE RWY XING THE GRASSY PATCH TO THE TXWY BEFORE I COULD GET IT BACK ON THE TXWY TO STOP. DURING THIS; I BROKE IT SEEMS EITHER A TXWY LIGHT OR RWY LIGHT. I'M NOT SURE; BUT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE PLANE. IN THE MORNING; THE MECH CHKED; BUT THERE WAS GRASS OR PIECES OF GLASS ON THE L WHEEL WHICH PRESUMABLY STRUCK THE LIGHT ON THE SIDE OF THE RWY.
