ZTL CTLR CONCERNED WITH NATL TFC MGMNT INITIATIVE (S2K+1) WHEN ACFT ARE RERTED FROM PROPOSED WX PROBS INTO KNOWN WX PROBS.
Narrative
I RECEIVED WX BRIEFING ON KNOWN LEVEL 5 AND 6 TSTMS FROM ASIC AT APPROX XA30. I ASKED IF TMU WOULD INITIATE A WX RERTE TO HANDLE TFC FILED OVER SJI VIA J37. ASIC REPLIED A TELECON WAS IN PLACE DISCUSSING THIS. AT XB15 I HAD 4 ACFT FROM THE NE; FILED OVER SJI AND TO THE IAH/HOU AREA INTO KNOWN WX. THE ACFT HAD WX RERTE IN THE REMARKS. ALL 4 REQUESTED A RERTE AROUND THE WX AND QUESTIONED THE RERTE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THIS SPRING USING THE 'S2K+1' INITIATIVE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE S2K+1 POLICY IS AN FAA/ACR 'PLAYBOOK' TO ADDRESS WX RERTES. THE RPTR WAS ADVISED THAT THIS PROGRAM IS BASED ON A 30% WX FORECASTING PROBABILITY. THE CTLR'S CONCERN IS THAT TFC WAS RERTED BY 'CENTRAL FLOW' INTO A KNOWN AND DISPLAYED WX 4 AND 5 CELL ACTIVITY AREA. AS THE ACFT CAME INTO THE CTLR'S CTL AREA; THEY WANTED FURTHER REROUTING AWAY FROM THE CELL ACTIVITY THAT THEY; AS WELL AS THE RPTR; SAW. THE CTLR CONSIDERS THIS UNNECESSARY; AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS; TFC MGMNT POLICY.
