DC10 RETURNED TO THE GATE AFTER AN FAA ACR INSPECTOR FELT UNSAFE WITH THE CAPT. THE COMPANY REPLACED THE CAPT.
Narrative
I WAS THE SO ON FLT XYZ AT ZZZ ON JUN/SUN/01. DURING TAXI OUT; THE FAA INSPECTOR ON THE JUMP SEAT ASKED THAT THE CAPT REPEAT HIS TKOF BRIEFING IN A MORE COMPLETE MANNER. AFTER THE CAPT DID SO; THE FAA INSPECTOR SAID THAT CAPT WAS INCOHERENT AND HE WASN'T COMFORTABLE WITH THE SIT AND HE WANTED TO TAXI BACK AND GET OFF. AFTER RETURNING TO THE GATE; THE COMPANY REPLACED CAPT WITH ANOTHER CAPT AND WE FLEW TO HNL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 514171: DURING TAXI WITH FAA ON JUMP SEAT; FAA INSPECTOR WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE CAPT'S PERFORMANCE AND ASKED THAT WE RETURN TO THE GATE. WE RETURNED TO THE GATE AND GOT A DIFFERENT CAPT AND THEN FLEW THE FLT WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE FAA INSPECTOR FELT THAT I WAS RUNNING TOO MUCH OF THE COCKPIT AND THE CHKLISTS. THIS WAS THE 5TH DAY OF FLYING WITH THIS CAPT AND THE WAY WE WERE RUNNING THE COCKPIT WAS BECAUSE I HAD BEEN ON THE AIRPLANE FOR 5 YRS AS A FO AND 1 1/2 YRS AS A SO. THE CAPT WAS NEW TO THE DC10 AND HAD ASKED FOR ALL THE INPUT WE COULD GIVE HIM; SO I WAS NOT UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE WAY THE COCKPIT WAS BEING RUN.
