E120 CAPT CONCERNED WITH DFW RESPONSE TO ASKING WHY CRANE ACTIVITY INFO WAS NOT ON THE ATIS.

Narrative

TAXIING IN AFTER LNDG ON 18R; WE NOTICED ABOUT 4 TALL; HUGE CONSTRUCTION CRANES JUST E OF RWY 18L AT DFW. THERE IS A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION GOING ON AT DFW ARPT. THESE TALL CRANES ARE NOT LISTED ON ATIS. UNSAFE SIT! ASKED GND CTL TO CHK WHY THESE TALL CRANES ARE NOT LISTED HE JUST LAUGHED IT OFF... CAN Y'ALL HELP OUT AND ASK DFW TWR TO ADD IT TO ATIS; NOT JUST AS A NOTAM SOMEWHERE. WOULD BE SAFER! CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR'S CONCERN IS WITH THE GC'S OFFHAND RESPONSE TO HIS QUESTION; INFERRING THAT THE CREW WOULD BE MORE WORRIED ABOUT OTHER THINGS; SUCH AS AN ENG OUT CONDITION BEING OF GREATER CONCERN. THE CAPT STATED THE CRANE ACTIVITY AND THEIR POSITIONING IS A CONCERN FOR A PLT THAT MIGHT EXPERIENCE ENG TROUBLE WHEN DEPING RWY 35L OR RWY 36R. THESE CRANES WOULD ALSO BE A FACTOR FOR RWY 17R/18L ARRS EXECUTING GO AROUND'S DUE TO TFC OR MECHANICAL PROBS. THE CAPT BELIEVES THAT THE ATIS IS A PERFECT TOOL TO HEIGHTEN FLT CREW AWARENESS TO SHORT TERM CONDITIONS ON THE ARPT. HE ALLEGED THAT 'BIRD ACTIVITY' IS ON 'ALL YEAR'; BUT NOT THESE OTHER IMPORTANT PILOTAGE CONCERNS.
