Narrative

LANDED ON RWY 8; TWR TOLD US TO TURN R ONTO RAMP AND HOLD SHORT AT HOLD LINE. THIS IS AN AIRLINE RAMP VERY CLOSE TO RWY. CONTACTED GND CTL AND WAS TOLD TO TAXI TO NEXT HOLD LINE AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 15/33. WHILE TAXIING; THE TAXI LINE I WAS FOLLOWING MADE A SLIGHT R TURN AND I FOLLOWED IT. HOWEVER; THIS TAXI LINE LEAD US CLOSER TO ACTIVE RWY AND I STARTED TO PARALLEL IT TO THE L. THE TWR THOUGHT I WAS GOING BACK OUT ON THE RWY AND THEY SENT AN ACFT AROUND THAT WAS ON FINAL APCH. GND CTL TOLD US TO TURN L AND FOLLOW THE YELLOW TAXI LINE; WHICH WE DID. THIS LINE IS VERY POORLY MARKED. THE WHOLE RAMP IS POORLY LIGHTED AND POORLY MARKED. THERE ARE NO BLUE TXWY INDICATORS AND IT IS VERY CONFUSING. TO ADD TO THE PROB; THE FEMALE GND CTLR WAS VERY WEAK ON VOLUME AND XMISSIONS WERE SOME WHAT GARBLED. RECOMMENDATIONS: INSTALL BLUE LIGHTS OR REFLECTORS TO OUTLINE TAXI RTES; INSTALL GREEN CENTER LINE LIGHTS OR REFLECTORS TO INDICATE TAXI CENTER LINE. MARK HOLD LINE BETTER WITH LIGHTS AND/OR SIGNS. ONLY 1 HOLD LINE WAS LIGHTED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT HE WENT UP TO THE TWR CAB TO TALK WITH THE CTLRS. THEY 'SORT OF' ADMITTED THAT PRIOR INCIDENTS OF THIS NATURE HAD OCCURRED BEFORE. THEY THOUGHT THE LIGHTING AND MARKINGS WERE 'MARGINAL TO POOR' SO THEY WERE WATCHING THE HAWKER QUITE CLOSELY DURING THIS INCIDENT. A RWY INCURSION DID NOT OCCUR.
