C150 PLT AND LUSCOMBE 8E PLT COLLIDED IN THE NON CTLED ARPT TFC PATTERN.

Narrative

I ENTERED THE PATTERN AT 7 AND 5 FROM THE 45 DEG ENTRY. ON DOWNWIND; WHILE LOOKING AT THE WIND SOCK; I NOTICED A LUSCOMBE TAKING OFF. WE WERE THE ONLY ACFT IN THE PATTERN. I MADE ALL MY RADIO ANNOUNCEMENTS AS USUAL. ON FINAL; A PLANE IN THE RUN-UP AREA MADE A CALL TO ME TO PULL UP; WATCH OUT. I LOOKED TO THE L AND THE LUSCOMBE WAS RIGHT THERE. I WAS ALREADY PULLING UP AND TO THE R. WE MADE CONTACT AND THE LUSCOMBE LANDED AS I CIRCLED TO LAND. THE LUSCOMBE HAD MINOR DAMAGE TO THE R WING SKIN AND I RECEIVED A DENT IN MY L WHEEL PARTS. THE LUSCOMBE HAS NO RADIO AND DID NOT SEE ME ENTER THE PATTERN AND MADE A MODIFIED SHORT PATTERN. I SUSPECTED THE LUSCOMBE DIDN'T HAVE A RADIO BECAUSE I HAD BEEN LISTENING TO THE FREQ BEFORE MY ARR. FROM NOW ON; IF I DON'T HEAR FROM AN ACFT IN THE PATTERN; I AM GOING TO DO A GAR AND GET BEHIND THE ACFT. THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT WAS THE LUSCOMBE HAD NO COM RADIOS AND WAS FLYING A NONSTANDARD PATTERN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 529102: LUSCOMBE WAS ON THIRD APCH FOR TKOF AND LNDGS AT INDEPENDENCE STATE ARPT. LUSCOMBE IS NON ELECTRIC AND HAD NO RADIO. UNAWARE OF THE C150 HAVING ENTERED PATTERN; LUSCOMBE WAS TURNING FROM BASE TO FINAL FOR RWY 34 AND COLLIDED WITH THE CESSNA THAT WAS ON A LONGER FINAL. DAMAGE WAS SCUFFED PAINT ON L MAINT WHEEL FAIRING OF CESSNA AND DENTED LEADING EDGE SKIN ON R WING OF LUSCOMBE. BETTER VISUAL SCAN ON PART OF BOTH PLTS COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS OCCURRENCE; AND USE OF A HANDHELD RADIO IN THE LUSCOMBE MAY HAVE HELPED.
