Narrative
I WAS THE FO AND PF ON A FLT FROM BTV TO EEN. THE DUTIES ARE TYPICALLY SPLIT SO THE PNF HANDLES ALL THE RADIO COMS. I WAS COMPLETING THE START SEQUENCE WHILE THE PIC/PNF CALLED AND RECEIVED THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. I HEARD THE PIC READ BACK 'TAXI TO RWY 15;' SO I PROCEEDED TO TAXI TO RWY 15. THE TAXI TO RWY 15 FROM THE CUSTOMS RAMP REQUIRES THE ACFT TO CROSS RWY 01/19. SINCE I DID NOT HEAR ANY HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS; THE PIC AND I CLRED BOTH DIRECTIONS FREE OF TFC AND PROCEEDED TO TAXI ACROSS RWY 1. ONCE ACROSS THE RWY; BTV GND RADIOED US AND SAID; 'XXX WAS NOT CLRED TO CROSS RWY 1.' I ASKED THE PNF PIC ABOUT THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND HE SAID HE DIDN'T HEAR ANY HOLD SHORT CLRNC NOR DID HE COMMENT WHEN I ASKED HIM IF IT WAS CLR TO THE R JUST BEFORE I CROSSED RWY 1. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT AND THE CTLR INSTRUCTED US TO PROCEED TO RWY 15. I BELIEVE A MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THIS INCIDENT WAS POOR CRM. THE PIC FAILS TO USE PROPER CRM WHEN YOU FLY WITH HIM. HE IS A MAN OF XX YRS AND HAS BEEN FLYING FOR OVER 40 YRS. HOWEVER; WHEN YOU FLY WITH HIM; THERE IS NO MISTAKE THAT HE IS THE PIC. HE IS ALSO THE CHIEF PLT AND ASIDE FROM JEOPARDIZING YOUR JOB; THERE IS NO ONE TO BRING YOUR COMPLAINTS TO. HE MAKES ALL OF THE DECISIONS ON HIS OWN WITH LITTLE OR NO INPUT FROM THE OTHER PLTS AND IS OFFENDED IF YOU QUESTION HIM. IN RETROSPECT; I SHOULD HAVE ASKED HIM TO VERIFY THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS EVEN THOUGH IT MAY HAVE RESULTED IN A DISAPPROVING MANNER FROM THE PIC/CHIEF PLT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 529898: PREOCCUPIED WITH CHKLIST AND PROGRAM FMS. RECOMMEND PROGRAM FMS PRIOR TO LEAVING RAMP. WHEN IN DOUBT; STOP AND REQUEST ADDITIONAL TAXI INSTRUCTIONS.
