Narrative

I CALLED HOUSTON FROM THE GND AT PIB FOR A CLRNC AND THE CTLR CLRED ME AND I READ BACK 'CLRED DIRECT MEI; MAINTAIN 4000 FT; EXPECT 7000 FT 10 MINS; VOID TIME XA50Z; INTENTIONS BY XA55Z. OUR PAX WERE BEING DELAYED CLRING SECURITY; SO I CALLED BACK AND THE CTLR GAVE US A NEW VOID TIME OF XB00Z. THE CAPT AND I COMPLETED OUR FIRST FLT OF THE DAY ITEMS; IT WAS MY LEG SO I BRIEFED DEP. 'THIS WILL BE A R SEAT TKOF STANDARD COMPANY CALLS AND PROCS...CLRED TO 4000 FT; LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE A 015 DEGS.' THE CAPT SAID; 'NO; IT'S R ON 020 DEGS.' WE TOOK OFF AT APPROX XA55Z. CLBING OUT THE CAPT CALLED ZHU AND RPTED OFF PIB CLBING TO 4000 FT. THE CTLR SAID; 'LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU ARE OVER THE LBY VOR.' CAPT; 'WE ARE.' CTLR; 'I AM CONFUSED; IDENT!' 'I SHOW YOU 8 MI FROM THE VOR.' CAPT; 'WE PASSED THE VOR.' CTLR;' I HAVE RADAR. YOU NEVER WERE OVER THE VOR. NEXT TIME; BE SURE TO FLY YOUR CLRED ROUTING; CONTACT ZME. THE CAPT AND I DISCUSSED OUR CLRNC AND CONFIRMED THAT WE HEARD THE SAME CLRNC FROM THE INITIAL CTLR. THE CAPT ALSO SAID THAT DIRECT WAS THE NORMAL ROUTING GIVEN ON THIS TRIP. THE CAPT CALLED BACK THE CTLR AND LET HIM KNOW THAT WE WERE CLRED DIRECT. THE CTLR SAID AGAIN; 'CONTACT ZME.' OUR CONCLUSION IS THAT THE FIRST CTLR TURNED THE SECTOR OVER AT XA00 LCL AND BTWN THE FIRST CTLR AND THE SECOND CTLR; THEY DID NOT COMMUNICATE TO EACH OTHER THAT OUR CLRNC WAS DIFFERENT FROM OUR ROUTING.
