C172 STUDENT AND INST INSTRUCTOR DID NOT FILE THE RTE THEY INTENDED TO FLY ON AN IFR CLRNC.

Narrative

WHEN FILING MY FLT PLAN; THERE WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING BTWN ME AND THE FSS OPERATOR. I FILED CSG TO CSG. MY TRIP WAS TO GO FROM COLUMBUS TO BIRMINGHAM FOR A TOUCH-AND-GO AND BACK TO COLUMBUS. HE NEVER ASKED FOR MY RTE OF FLT; HE JUST TOOK IT AS DIRECT. I TOOK IT AS HE DID NOT NEED TO KNOW THAT I WAS PLANNING ON TAKING V321 THEN V168 TO BHM. I LATER LEARNED THAT THIS WAS A MISTAKE ON MY PART. WHILE INFLT; THE CTLR CAME ON AND QUESTIONED ME ABOUT MY RTE OF FLT. I EXPLAINED TO HIM TO CONVERSATION THAT I HAD WITH THE FSS OPERATOR AND THEN AMENDED THE FLT PLAN. HE THEN GAVE ME PERMISSION TO TAKE THE AIRWAYS. ONCE I GOT BACK TO THE ARPT; I THEN LEARNED FROM ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR THAT WAS NOT A REAL MINOR SIT. I UNDERSTAND THAT I MADE A MISTAKE AND HAVE LEARNED FROM IT. DURING THIS FLT; I ALSO LEARNED THAT I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO FILE AS ME BEING PIC. MY INSTRUCTOR'S NAME IS SUPPOSED TO GO DOWN ON THAT DURING IFR TRAINING. I HAVE LEARNED FROM MY MISTAKE LIKE MOST PEOPLE AND DO NOT FEEL LIKE I PUT ANYONE IN REAL DANGER.
